I was amazed last evening while waiting for the walkout of Romney’s acceptance speech by the Ron Paul delegates that never occurred. I was amazed to hear one of our genuine sports heroes, Mike Eruzione, one of the captains of the Miracle on Ice hockey team, say Mitt Romney saved the Olympics. Yes that Mike [...]

The pro-sustainability people always try to minimize their efforts as unimportant – they won’t take orders from the UN, they do not intend to harm people’s property rights, they are just a voluntary effort to make the world a better place for future generations. ICLEI is just a harmless little tumbleweed organization that just helps [...]

Several days ago the government of Canada sensibly withdrew from the sovereignty killer known as Kyoto. (Thankfully the US never joined, no thanks to former Vice President Al Gore.) But, ICLEI has already shown just what a Fifth Column it is. Here is what the Mayor of Vancouver, BC, Canada as reported by this environmental [...]

Editor’s Note: This Guest Post post was written by Melody Scalley, an entrepreneur and talk-radio show host in Virginia. I met Melody at the 2009 Republican Convention when she was a candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates. She is a rock solid Conservative and a powerful voice for the right out of the beautiful [...]

George Allen has picked up a pretty big endorsement. Over 100 members of Virginia TEA Party Patriot groups, a strong group of conservatives working to restore the country to fiscal sanity, have endorsed George Allen’s bit for the US Senate. While several of the candidates have TEA Party connections, Allen is the one to gain [...]

The blogger Aaron C. Davis at the Washington Post is surprisingly honest in his analysis of a new struggle between MD Governor Martin O’Malley and counties over an attempt to force a state-wide land use plan with Agenda 21 overtones. Note who goes to defy elected officials and prior precedent first: Hint: It’s not Richard [...]

As we are seven days from the Ames Straw Poll, we have this interesting article from Mother Jones magazine. It’s time for their daily hate for Rep. Bachmann but they actually show that she’s right. Mother Jones basically accuses Bachmann of being nuts because she does not believe in sustainability: “This is their agenda—I know [...]

I cannot believe the propaganda ICLEI puts out. Today’s outrage was found as a letter sent to a friendly columnist of the Roanoke Times, Dan Casey by Don Knapp, a staff person at ICLEI USA. Knapp’s highlights: Rather, we support a bottom-up movement of local governments like Roanoke County that are working to make their [...]

People ask all over this great land of ours: Is this Agenda 21 thing really this bad? Is it a threat to liberty? One of the James City County supervisors asked that question at the July 12 meeting in re ICLEI – he was (rightly) concerned about Chicken Little type behavior. But Agenda 21 really [...]

Thaddeus McCotter is a congressman from Michigan; I heard him speak on C-SPAN at one of the 2010 political events and found him intriguing. He plays guitar and was recently on the Huckabee show playing with the band. I like him very much. Now Thaddeus McCotter has entered the Presidential race yesterday; his five points [...]

I wondered what was the problem when I saw a headline that Senator McCain was upset with the GOP hopefuls. I soon became concerned there would be an “isolationist” attack on the others (read Ron Paul; I was amazed when three times the other candidates cited Paul as authority in last Monday’s debate!) and I [...]

In light of the recent Wisconsin teachers’ debacle, I thought it prudent to examine the morality of government contracts in general—especially that legislation which includes long-term “guarantees”. The following argument seems to be most prevalent among the teachers unions (and all similar beneficiaries at every level of government): “we were promised such and such at [...]

I know many groups and individuals I otherwise respect are skipping this year’s version of CPAC due to one of the participating oirganizations being a gay Republican group, GOProud. I do not adhere to the agenda of the gay activists. But it’s got to be true that a gay Republican is closer to my positions [...]

My recent series on the Young Turks of the Tory Party were well-read and introduced American readers to several rising stars in the Conservative Party. But if we had a similar series on Young Turks of the GOP, a prime nominee would be the new GOP candidate for Congress in Idaho District 1: Raul Labrador. [...]

Virginia Right! had the opportunity to speak with Republican US Senator John Thune of South Dakota this afternoon on a conference call concerning the Health Care bill that just passed and the Senate Reconciliation votes taking place this evening.
On the bill itself, Senator Thune said:
“First off, this is a disaster. It’s passage is tragic for the future of America. Not only because it’s bad Health Care policy, but because of all of the debt we are going to pile on, the games that were played to understate the true cost of this and the tricks and gimmicks that were used betrays the future generations because it’s going to cost us trillions and trillions of dollars more than anybody anticipated.”

Democrats and Republicans both got the message: We are Taxed Enough Already. The problem is, America is sending an incomplete message. Ronald Reagan understood the implications of out of control spending and the high taxes required to support it.
Reagan said “No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”
Yet Reagan and Congress borrowed more money than they took in.

When the VEA endorses a Democrat, it’s like having a hot and humid day in Virginia in August. Not news.
When the VEA endorses a Republican, it is like snow in August in Virginia.
When the VEA endorses a Republican over an incumbent Democrat, well, there is nothing that compares with that. And the fact that the VEA also sent a check speaks volumes.
