The Richmond Times Dispatch has outlined some of the crippling aspects of the misnamed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. A doctors’ group in western Henrico County has made a decision it hoped to avoid. The doctors say their social devotion to helping their community’s most unfortunate residents has been trumped by dollars and sense. They have decided to stop participating in Medicaid, the health-care program for the needy funded by federal and state governments. Christine Talbot , practice administrator for Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists, recently met with the doctors. She told them: “I know philosophically you want to help, but basically, if you don’t pull out of Medicaid, you guys are going to be holding the bag, and they’re never going …

Jimmy Carter will appear on 60 Minutes tonight. Widely recognized as ”The Worst President Ever”, Carter is sensing that by passing the horrible Obamacare legislation, Barack Obama has now replaced him and taken this dubious dishonor. In an attempt to salvage his legacy, Jimmy will argue that had it not been for Teddy Kennedy killing it, his version of government controlled Health Care would have become law during his term. Just think, had that happened, right now we would all be suffering with a system offering extended waiting lists and denial of medical services and treatments. The revenue required to fund it would have required economy destroying european style VAT taxes years ago. Jimmy Carter’s legacy as “The Worst” would have been untouchable. “The fact is that we would have had comprehensive health care now, had it not been for Ted Kennedy’s deliberately blocking the legislation that I proposed,” he tells Stahl. “It was his fault. Ted Kennedy killed the bill,” says Carter. And Kennedy, who then ran against the president for the democratic presidential…

The American Spectator ran an excellent piece on Virginia’s Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. They have captured the inspiring efforts of Cuccinelli to defend our constitution not just for Virginia but for all of America. The freedom of the American people and the creation of our country was due to the efforts Virginians like Madison, Jefferson, Patrick Henry, George Mason and others. The American people are fortunate that at this point in time another Virginian, Ken Cuccinelli, stands between the overreaching oppression of the federal government and them. Last Sunday, days before 20 other states went to federal court to oppose the new health reform law Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli – who had already …

Former Governor, Mayor of Oakland and current Democrat candidate for Governor has a plan. But you’ll have to wait until after the election before he tells you what it is. This is met with the uproarious laughter of the faithful in attendance, who love pulling another one off on their fellow citizens. I guess that plays well with Californians, who have provided for us a House Majority Leader who pretty much said the same thing during the Health Care debate. How many degrees of separation are there between Kevin Bacon and the people of California? Well my Californian bretheren and sisteren? Are you ready to once again to assume the position? I know you’re confused after the whole Ahnold thing. He masqueraded as a conservative and sold his soul under the Republican brand, but trust me, Jerry Brown ain’t the answer. I don’t know that Meg

An under-quoted line from the Declaration of Independence reads, But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Obect evinces a design to reduce [the people] under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security… Mark Levin likes to refer to our present situation as a ‘Soft Tyranny’, but watch these videos about the National Park Service and the Environmentalists running rough shod over the poor people of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and you tell me whether government tyranny is still ‘Soft’. Add this to the ‘long train of abuses and usurpations’ that we now endure. These people have been targeted by our own government for relocation and this is not the only community where this is happening. Fortunately for…

It has been rumored for some time now that the NRA (National Rifle Association) will endorse Harry Reid in the Nevada Senate race against the conservative Sharron Angle. This is confusing to most because while Sharron Angle is a 100% Second Amendment supporter, Harry Reid pretends to be pro-gun but uses his position in the Senate to undermine the right to keep and bear arms. While the NRA has gone out of their way to state that they have yet to endorse anyone in this race. For the record, the NRA-PVF has not yet made an endorsement in the Nevada U.S. Senate race . In fact, there have been no announced endorsements for any U.S. Senate seat for the November general elections—period. It is increasingly apparent that the Reid endorsement is coming. The August issue of the NRA magazines included a preemptive explanation for the unpopular recommendation titled Making Endorsements Count which regurgitates the NRA-PVF Endorsement Policy . They go on about being non-partisan and a single issue organization that …

The Gipper stars in this new video, released by the Republican Study Committee. It’s as powerful as it is chilling, to hear Ronald Reagan’s predictions about government, and then see today’s Democrats fulfill those prophecies. Today’s Democrats are led by a woman who said we needed to pass a massive health care takeover bill in order to find out what’s in it . Well, today’s Democrats are also led by a man who is evidently corrupting the Food & Drug Administration for the sake of “bending the cost curve” to make Obamacare somewhere near fiscally feasible. That’s something he said he would never do – he even promised that if you like your health care/doctor/you name it, you could keep it. We’re finding out what’s in the bill – …

The RTD has a reader comment feature called Two Cents, where citizens can give brief opinions on a variety of topics. Today’s RTD on Dead Tree had a great one from C. E. Herndon from Chester, VA. I’d link it but my brief attempt at finding it on line proved fruitless. Democratic Party Chairman Tim Kaine claims the Tea Party movement will set this nation back 10 years. Ten years ago, gas was $1.59 a gallon.I was getting 3 to 5 percent raises, my health insurance was $10 a week, and my 401(k) grew by hundreds. And, there was no 9/11–we all felt safer then. We didn’t have a president who went around the world bowing and apologizing because we are the greatest nation on Earth. Thank you, Tim Kaine, for helping me to me make up my mind to join the Tea Party movement.

America is an extraordinary country. Every time you think you’ve got it sussed, it surprises you. It is the sheer diversity of the US that makes anti-Americanism so perverse. Norm Leahy over at Tertium Quids posted this story about Daniel Hannan’s address to a rural southern GOP committee. Hannan, who is an outspoken conservative and a champion of liberty, scolds the Republican Party for forgetting that it gained popularity for its early stance on state’s rights and individual liberty but had since abandoned that platform to tilt at windmills beyond its purvey. Let’s just say that he had an encounter he was not anticipating. I don’t LOL often…
