This is no surprise. Obama wasting taxpayer money. NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The agency responsible for watching over your money is now getting its own finances examined. Judicial Watch, a conservative foundation aimed at fighting government corruption, obtained financial records from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and says that the government agency has been spending [...]

I am no friend of the NCAA nor a fan of Penn State but I must ponder again the two issues raised in the Penn State case. First, the actions of the officials as reported in the media (that PSU officials including the late and former Coach Joe Paterno) are as reprehensible as any reported [...]

You may have noticed the black banner atop the Virginia Right! Logo in the header section of this blog. Today, the internet has gone on strike. Millions of websites have either gone dark like Wikipedia or have added protest banners and links like we have at Virginia Right! SOPA and it’s bastard sibling in the [...]

Chuck Smith and I have two things in common: We are both lawyers and we almost share a birthday (Smith was born on the 4th of July and I was born on the 5th but in different years). Actually, we have two more things in common: We are both conservatives and don’t mind fighting despite [...]

Recently a liberal PAC called ‘Back to Basics’ ran advertisements across 25 Texas newspapers calling Governor Rick Perry a coward for refusing to debate challenger Bill White. http://www.click2houston.com/video/24748017/index.html But Bryan Preston, Communications Director for the Republican Party of Texas , clarified the Governor’s position and placed the spotlight on ‘Back to Basics’, which is funded by the incoming President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Steve Mostyn. It’s an interesting tale of big-money, insider politics, and influence peddling Texas style .

I do not often read Ann Coulter. She was critical of conservative lawyers several months ago on basic interrogation rights and I had to call her out. No word on how she felt about my criticism. But I could not miss this column: Bill Kristol must resign. I agree. He ought to leave the conservative movement. He [...]

Under enormous political pressure to “do something” about the Gulf oil spill, President Obama has sent Federal Prosecutors to look for and prosecute BP officials and workers. If there is one corporation or entity on the planet with a vested interest in shutting off the flow of oil, it is BP. They will be held accountable for every drop spilled, and future drilling in deep waters will undoubtedly be more difficult as the horrors of the oil wash ashore.

We’ll find out if anyone in the Governor’s office reads this blog! I read that the Virginia General Assembly has frozen the judges position until 2012; no new judges can be appointed. I understand budgetary issues but judgeships are a prime political plum for either party. While I agree that only the best candidates should [...]

I might get fired as a blogger for citing Keith Olbermann but Kenneth Starr, former Whitewater special counsel, federal judge, and dean of the conservative Pepperdine School of Law (and ought to have been Justice Starr) adds his weight to the criticism of the Lynn Cheney/Bill Kristol “Al-Qaeda 7″. Several conservative lawyers spoke out. I [...]

Obama is encouraging more terrorist attacks by holding civilian trials in New York. Not that there would be an effort by other terrorists to disrupt the trials, but they definitely want to have the national stage and embarrass America.
It has happened before. The lawyers for the terrorists will demand to be told how information was obtained. The government will have the option of blowing the trial or giving up state secrets.
