Democrat Gerry Connolly was the only Virginia Congressman to vote in favor of the bill masquerading as legislation to save us from the “fiscal cliff” that actually only makes the cliff higher. Or more precisely, the fiscal abyss into which we are falling even deeper. Even Bobby Scott (rightfully) voted no to this massive spending bill [...]

It never fails. When the Republicans lose an election, they always start listening to the Liberal media telling them that they are too far to the right. They toss principles out the window and run to the left. And it never works. And even worse, instead of gaining support and popularity, they end up alienating [...]

I was not sure what to do because I am at work and I do not blog from work nor use work stuff for advocacy (although I have broken down for the Appellate Defender issue!) so when I was doing my prayer walk around the state Capitol today, I was seized with an idea: GO [...]

The New York Times writes today, “The 112th Congress is set to enter the Congressional record books as the least productive body in a generation, passing a mere 173 public laws as of last month. . . . Appropriations bills, once the central function of the legislative branch, have been ditched in favor of short-term spending [...]

Woo Hoo! But I doubt Harry Reid will even consider being responsible with America’s money. From the Washington Times: In a move that serves as a capstone to Rep. Ron Paul’s colorful career, the House on Wednesday approved a bill that would let Congress’s chief investigators conduct a full audit of the Federal Reserve’s shrouded decision-making process. The [...]

Ok, I really don’t like the idea that this bill “prevents default”. If the government shuts down, we still have money. Defaulting on the debts will be a choice by the President, not an inevitability. And the task before Congress is twofold. Protect the credit rating and keep the government running. Simply borrowing more money [...]

President Obama knows. We all know. House Speaker John Boehner will cave. Oh, he will talk the talk and walk the walk right up to where he gives the other side everything they want. I have repeatedly predicted Boehner would cave, hopping I would be wrong. Today: Boehner caved. Only he wants us to believe [...]

Is Vegas taking bets on what time the Republicans will cave on the debt deal? If not, they should. Everyting is lining up for a massive cave in by the Republican leadership and the Conservative outcry for Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s head on a platter (figuratively, of course) is mounting. Of [...]

The discussion as far as the debt ceiling seems to have lost. Republicans are caving in at all turns. It would appear that two of the top Republicans (Jon Kyl in the Senate and Eric Cantor in the House) are willing to backtrack on the promise to not increase taxes. In Jon Kyl’s case, he [...]

The Hill reports: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) credited Tea Party activists with refocusing GOP attention on an expanding federal government, calling the grassroots movement a “surge protector.” Speaking at an event in San Diego, Calif., on Monday, Cantor said that Tea Party voters propelled Republicans to majority status in the House last year, [...]

Tablet Magazine has a good piece on our Congressman Eric Cantor. H/T to David Gerstman Last month, when the Republicans took control of the U.S. House of Representatives and John Boehner was elected speaker, Cantor became majority leader, the second most powerful person in the chamber and the one tasked with driving the partisan agenda [...]

Have you ever wished Daniel Webster was running for office again? Well, there is a Daniel Webster running for office and if he wins, conservatives get a two-fer – he’s running again Rep. Alan Grayson, perhaps the most controversial Democrat representative in the chamber! (George Will calls Grayson the worst congressman in America.) And, Daniel [...]

I am not sure if the Democrat Leader of the U.S. Senate was attempting to overcompensate for his homosexual Freudian slip calling Delaware’s Chris Coons his “pet” or he has been watching too many episodes of the AMC network’s Mad Men, but Harry Reid definitely crossed the line of propriety and decorum while introducing Senator Kristen Gillebrand. At the fundraiser Mayor Bloomberg hosted for him at his townhouse Reid referred to her as “the hottest member” as she sat just a few feet away, according to three sources. A Reid spokesman confirmed it happened, but also noted that the Democratic Majority Leader also praised Gillibrand for her work. Then he turned his attention to Gillibrand, saying something about how “many senators are known for many things,” according to a source. He added, “We in the Senate refer to Sen. Gillibrand as the hottest member.” I can see the cover of next week’s Newsweek now;

I am first excited to be here at Virginia Right assisting Tom White in his blog. I hope I increase and not decrease the readership! May Jesus be praised by all my posts! Here’s my FIRST post.
The nightly news painted Senator Jim Bunning as slightly off his rocker. Holding up crucial legislation just to make a political point. But what was his point? He wanted the bill paid for in the budget not just add ten billion more added to the debt. The Washington Post admitted this was Sen. Bunning’s point:

Obama has lost the support of Independents. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows only 16% of Independents strongly approve of Obama while 51% strongly disapprove. Last December, President elect Obama had a strongly disapprove rating from Independents of only 15%, indicating an alarming drop of 36%. Of course, it is not just Independents losing respect [...]
