Alea iacta est…the Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and we have the results for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up. Usually, it’s the coverup, not the crime. But in this case, it’s both. This week’s winner, Bookworm Room’s Is the IRS scandal the worst political scandal in American history? I say “yes [...]

Drudge is reporting that Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is one of the finalists for the VP nomination. That is an interesting choice. Mitt Romney needs someone with experience, knowledge and conservative credentials to boost his stock with the base and bring Independents and women over to the former Massachusetts Governor’s side. We know Condi. Very smart [...]

Cong. Paul does so much better when he is interviewed by those who give him time to explain his positions. The 30 to 90 second sound bite is difficult to explain the theory of liberty. I find myself wondering: Is it better to listen to the debate or catch up later? I also find myself [...]

Speaking on the floor this morning, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made major remarks on the debt limit negotiations, saying, “[A]fter years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this President is in the Oval Office, a real solution is unattainable.” He explained, “I was one of [...]

Politico reports today, “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday morning that he was ‘not nearly as optimistic’ about striking a budget deal as he was last night when he left an Oval Office meeting with Speaker of the House John Boehner. . . . ‘I am not nearly as optimistic as I was [...]

Two stories discuss the possibility that former UN Ambassador John Bolton might run for President. It is an intriguing long shot choice. The Conflicted Libertarian would be conflicted. Bolton is a “neo-con” hawk; that’s bad: He [Bolton] has assailed the administration’s “policy chaos” in Afghanistan. And he has unabashedly called for a military strike on [...]

Obama to address the nation about withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq. President Obama has scheduled his second oval office address to let the American people know that he can now officially check off another campaign promise. In February Barack’s right hand man Joe Biden prepared us for this day; “I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.” Let me be clear about this, this is a great achievement but I disagree with the attribution. Nearly every morning I begin my day with a brisk walk through our neighborhood. It is a fairly large and there are…

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) released the following weekly Republican address. Text of the speech: Hello, I am Senator Roger Wicker from Mississippi. During the House hearings designed to allow Congressmen to each have a photo-op on record of them taking potshots at top BP Executives for the Gulf drilling accident, Congressman Joe Barton (R-TX) seems to have missed the memo. Instead of blaming BP for the entire mess, spewing threats and issuing severe tongue lashings, (none of which will do a thing to stop the leak), Barton apologized to BP CEO Tony Hayward for the horrible treatment his firm was receiving from the US Government and especially for the shakedown BP received from the Chicago mob occupying the White House.

First of all, blame is not a strategy. It is what you do when you are inept at handling things.
There was nothing in last night’s speech that surprised anyone, except maybe the left. Especially MSNBC. But it is nearly certain that they followed advice given to brides and grooms: Never go to bed mad.
So the following conversation on MSNBC should be considered a temporary anomaly:
