Over the weekend, liberal columnist Frank Rich wrote a long piece for New York Magazine, calling on President Obama to implement more policies that could make the economy worse: more taxes and ever more government spending. Unfortunately, Rich may not have to worry, since Democrats seem determined to push more of these failed policies on [...]

Americans Deserve Answers On Berwick’s Controversial Health Care Beliefs

In an editorial, The Wall Street Journal writes today, “Among Donald Berwick’s greatest rhetorical hits is this one: ‘any health-care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must—must—redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate.’ Count that as one more reason that President Obama made Dr. Berwick a [...]

CBO Director Confirms: Obamacare Won’t Lower Health Costs

Another day, another promise from Democrats about their unpopular health care bill is exposed as mere rhetoric as reality shows the opposite to be true.

Throughout the health care debate last year, Americans were assured by President Obama and Democrats that their health care plans would lower health care costs and reduce government spending on health care. In his September address to a joint session of Congress, Obama said his plan “will slow the growth of health care costs for our families, our businesses, and our government.” In December, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) warned that “without reform, health care expenditures will increase.” Obama said again in March this year, “[M]y proposal would bring down the cost of health care for … the federal government.” Later that month, some House Democrats based their vote for the bill on assurances the bill would lower health care costs. And when Republicans tried to point out that the Democrats’ plans would do none of these things, Baucus had a typical response: “Mr. President, the Republican Leader just a few moments ago says that this bill raises costs. With all due respect to my good friend from Kentucky, that statement is false.”

GM Posts Profit: Smoke Mirrors and Government Lies

Government Motors as they have come to be known, has finally made a profit. Today, the Government owned auto manufacturer reported a profit of $865 million.

Really?

We were recently told that GM paid off it’s debt to the US Government, in full, with interest and ahead of schedule. As we now know, this was a lie perpetrated on the American people by the Obama Administration. GM received $52 billion from the US government and $9.2 billion from Canada. During their bankruptcy, most of this debt was either forgiven, or converted to stock owned by the US Government. In the end, GM supposedly only owed the US $6.7 billion, which was the amount repaid. Ten cents on the dollar.

Sarah Palin On Health Care

I join millions of Americans in expressing appreciation for the Senate Finance Committee’s decision to remove the provision in the pending health care bill that authorizes end-of-life consultations (Section 1233 of HR 3200). It’s gratifying that the voice of the people is getting through to Congress; however, that provision was not the only disturbing detail in this legislation; it was just one of the more obvious ones.
