Both the Weekly Standard (which I do not fully trust) and the Wall Street Journal (which I trust more) have called for a biometric ID card for ALL US workers to prove they have legal status. Here’s the Weekly Standard’s quoting the WSJ: The Journal writes that “at least five of the eight senators writing [...]

Okay, here’s some details on the January 21 defeat of the Appellate Defender bill: The bill was assigned to the Senate Courts of Justice Committee where there were 7 Democrats and 8 Republicans. This committee is chaired by Sen. Tommy Norment, who has a private practice of law in Williamsburg area. I also noticed that [...]

House Republicans finally came up with a good idea. If Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats continue to avoid their duty and pass a budget, the House wants to dock their pay. In other words, if you don’t do your job, you don’t get paid. That’s pretty darn hard to defend to the American Public. [...]

I have written several times about the restoration of the Appellate Defender’s office in Virginia. The Indigent Defense Commission had to abolish the office due to budget cuts. Now you can do something about it! Email your senator if you are in his or her district (especially the Republicans!) or can if a Virginia voter, [...]

Parental Rights (www.parentalrights.org) is reporting in its email it sends to me and seven million other people that the calls are overwhelmingly against the treaty but the emails are about 50-50! According to our contacts on the Hill, Senate offices are getting pounded with calls regarding the CRPD, and most of those calls are against [...]

parentalrights.org reports that Tuesday, December 4 is the date for the vote in the Senate on the UN Disabilities Treaty. Let’s just say NO! Here’s why! 1. It hurts parental rights. All disabled children (and every child who ever have had an IEP or 504 plan could be considered disabled) will be subject to bureaucrats [...]

The so-called Convention for the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities is back again! www.parentalrights.org is reporting that Senator Reid wants to vote on CRPD this week! We need to call our senators today or tomorrow. I would say: First, a lame duck session is not appropriate for a serious matter like this treaty. Only [...]

I know I should not quote an entire email. But bloggers are lazy too and it seems like this is best way to get the word out (from parentalrights.org: Oppose CRPD in Social Media Today! As we alerted you yesterday, we need to oppose the CRPD through social media today. Post messages on your senators’ [...]

Senator Rand Paul not only refused to back down from the “bipartisan” attack of Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Lindsey Graham (R[?]-SC) but doubled down on the foreign aid issue: But Paul — a libertarian-minded freshman who often finds himself in the minority of the minority in Senate votes — doesn’t seem too concerned. “They [...]

I was and am elated when Senator Rand Paul ran these ads in Florida and West Virginia about their senator’s support for foreign aid for Egypt, Libya and Pakistan! I would not wait: No aid to any nation except maybe Israel! Well, Senator Manchin didn’t like his ad very much: Manchin said many senators thought [...]

www.parentalrights.org reported and The Hill confirms that there was first a sneaky attempt to pass the sovereignty-killing, unnecessary, dangerous (especially to parental rights and homeschoolers) Convention to Protect the Rights of the Disabled (CPRD) stopped by Utah Senator Mike Lee and then the wonderful “round robin” letter Lee then produced, signed by enough Senators to [...]

Earlier this month, President Obama made a big show about rolling out a “to-do” list he had for Congress. In a speech in Albany, NY, he said, “[T]oday I’m announcing a handy little ‘To-Do’ list that we’ve put together for Congress. You can see it for yourselves at whitehouse.gov. It’s about the size of a Post-It note, so every member of [...]

I have been, and still am, a firm believer in the good things that the Family Foundation does. But I am not alone in scratching my head at their failure to get behind one of the most important bills of the year, House Bill 1. Here is another voice in the baffling saga of tepid [...]

Virginia Lt. Governor Bill Bolling has done an analysis of the Constitutional Authority of the office of Lt. Governor as presiding officer of the Virginia Senate in the event of a tie. How many times did the debate moderator, the senile Charlie Rose et al refer to the paralysis in Washington, DC? Rose and the other moderators seem to think this gridlock is a bad thing. Well, it’s not. And it is by design. To use a network terminology, the gridlock is an intentional firewall designed to [...]

RICHMOND – The Obama Administration today suspended exploration for oil and natural gas off the coast of Virginia for at least the next seven years. I think I just found where a little chunk of the Stimulus money went. I tallied up the campaign funds of the seats that the Obamacare Gang of 219 are trying to defend versus their opponents. Democrats: $238,122,981 Republicans: $72,562,610 That’s a more than 3 to 1 advantage. Now where would Democrats get a quarter of a billion dollars for these 219 races? Money comes from Unions to politicians, and politicians give our tax dollars to Unions. Of course, they’re too clever than to have a smoking quid pro quo, and they are all very devious and slippery, making sure these deals are impossible to trace, but that number is staggering. That’s over $1,000,000 per seat, 12 of which are unopposed and some that might as well be. Thanks for getting the big money out of politics, Senators McCain and Feingold.
