I am sure some are driving down the road and see these signs up that the Mechanicsville Tea Party maintains (by the way, all on private property with the consent of the property owner!) and are wondering: Who is Gerry Baugh? I remember how I read an article in the Mechanicsville Local where the budget [...]

I am keenly interested in the Constitution Party these days. I was glad to see former Congressman Virgil Goode get nominated, although I thought he could have been stronger in the October 23 debate in Chicago. I would have summarized the platform, challenged Green Party candidate Jill Stein on Citizens United a so-called climate change [...]

Going perhaps a bit undercover I wandered down to Kanawha Plaza in downtown Richmond this afternoon to get a few pictures and gauge the people of whom I have been so critical first hand, up close and personal. It was a cold and rainy afternoon with a snow storm moving in to our west and [...]

Texas Cong. Ron Paul raised EIGHT million dollars in the third quarter, according to his campaign. This is somewhat better than the $5 million expected before September 30. This is largely due to the end of quarter moneybomb! Well, let’s give ‘em something to write about: Pledge and contribute at BlackTHISOut for October 19! Here’s [...]

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week, carved eternally in the Akashic records of cyberspace. Tonight, according to Karyn McDermott, the Richmond Republican Examiner, the first sign of Ron Paul 2012 occurred at Pump Road and Broad Street in west Richmond. The Examiner spoke with organizer Igor Prohorov who expects a decent turnout. “Sign waving gets the message out to a lot of people in a short period of time, [...]

Honestly, you Democrats MUST be tired of defending this guy. The mathematician in chief was in Richmond yesterday and made (yet again) some remarks that try to demonize and belittle Republican plans. Just wondering how smaller government and lower taxes stacks up against a powerful message like hope and change. Americans for Prosperity – as [...]

Mark Strama is a liberal Democrat, currently occupying the seat belonging to Texas state House District 50 . He’s known for his affinity for a certain Barack Obama , which probably helped him in 2008. But now…not so much. District 50 is mostly in liberal Travis County, but parts of it leak up into Williamson County, which is a red bulwark hard against Travis County’s blue dot. Most of Williamson is in District 52, which also elected a liberal to the House in 2008 – Dianna Maldonado. And a drive through Williamson shows that Maldonado knows she’s in for a serious fight against the GOP nominee, Larry Gonzales . Maldonado’s signs are everywhere, curiously omitting any mention of the radical leftists who support her candidacy. But until recently there weren’t any Strama signs anywhere in the sliver of Williamson County that’s in his district. That changed about a week ago. Now, on a drive through the area, you can’t help but notice that…

The 2010 edition of the 9-12 Rally in DC was, at a distance, very similar to the 2009 version; patriots attended from all across the nation, the wore colorful clothing and carried very witty signs. The numbers didn’t quite match last year but given many who might have attended were just in DC on 8-28 at Glenn Becks Restoring Honor Rally, the turnout was impressive. What struck me most was the notable difference between ’09 and ’10. In 2009 the throngs of concerned citizens marched to our capital to let their elected officials know that they were not happy with the fiscal irresponsibility of the Federal government, their dissatisfaction with the stimulus bill and their opposition to the proposed Obamacare bill, Cap & Trade and Card Check. Today …

All signs are pointing to a big drop in the Stock Market today. Experts had expected a drop in the weekly unemployment filing figures by around 4,000. Instead, a large rise of 25,000 new claims sent futures down sharply as hopes for a recovery in progress dimmed.
Combined with a weakening Euro, which is sending fears of a double dip recession overseas, this could be a bad day on Wall Street.

Public pressure has caused the abortion clinic to take down the Deeds signs. I drove by there around 2:00 PM today and all the signs are gone.
This was an exercise in poor judgment by an abortion clinic. These places are lightning rods for controversy and to put up a political sign is to ask for lightning. While their trade is as distasteful, providing mostly convenience abortions at $300 or $400 a pop, they would be wise to not ask for attention and beg for controversy.

I just phoned the Abortion Clinic and asked the receptionist (who refused to give her name) if they placed the signs on their property. I was told they had placed them there. I asked to speak to the person responsible, and after a couple of minutes on hold, was asked for my number and promised a call back.
