Alachua County, FL, the home of the University of Florida, has gotten out of ICLEI, according to this report by the Gainesville TP: Apparently County Commissioner Susan Baird is a friendly voice (wonder if she was audited?): Dearest Friends of the County and the world, My greatest wish (among so many others…) is for the [...]

I am ready to take my stand on economic sanctions. Unless they are necessary and specifically targeted to affect the group or persons whose behavior who we seek to change, they are immoral. Here’s an article in the New York Times on the sanctions against Iran. I was chilled by this quote: Obama administration officials [...]

Apparently the Organization for Security and Co-Operation in Europe does not have enough to do. In spite of elections in such places as Ukraine and regimes in places such as Belarus, the OSCE is sending election observers to the United States to monitor our voting. But they are unwelcome as far as I am concerned. [...]

Thanks again to the Humble Libertarian and the Daily Paul and this article here for this disturbing development, courtesy of the sovereignty-killer World Trade Organization (WTO). The WTO has ruled that the US could not enforce our country of origin laws lest we be subject to a legal punitive tariff: The original meat labeling law [...]

Tea Party Manatee has announced that “conservatives and Tea Party groups” will convene at [...]

Since we are in the midst of the debate over increasing the debt limit in the United States, it may be useful to read this article by Young Turk MP Savid Javid. Here it is at Conservative Home! Well looky there, ACORN has its own little nut in the Texas House. The Texas Republicans peeled her bark in a press release today. Thibaut’s past is not unlike that of President Barack Obama; she too started out as a community organizer. And both did work for ACORN. Kristi even appeared at the State Capitol as a paid lobbyist for ACORN during the 2007 Legislative Session. ACORN activities have attracted the attention of law enforcement and prosecutors around the country, after they were exposed in a series of stings by a couple posing as a prostitute and a pimp, soliciting ACORN’s advice on how to operate their illegal enterprise without getting caught. Even the United States Congress condemned ACORN’s actions and cut off

The question before the Disruptive court is, are you ready for a John Bolton presidential run? The answer: Yes. Yes I am . John Bolton has conquered enemies who haven’t even attacked America yet. When pressed as to whether that means he would consider a run, Bolton seemed to suggest that he might do it, at the very least to help put national security issues at the top of the debate agenda. “In the sense that I want to make sure that not only in the Republican Party, but in the body politic as a whole, people are aware of threats that remain to the United States . You know, as somebody who writes op-eds and appears on the television, I appreciate as well as anybody …

This slipped past my radar when it first came out back in April, but thanks to Fran for sending it to me. Professor Robert Weissberg, was struggling to define his growing sense of unease about Barack Obama and his administration. It goes deeper than disagreeing with his policies and has nothing to do with his race. But I think he nailed it. After auditioning countless political terms, I finally realized that the Obama administration and its congressional collaborators almost resemble a foreign occupying force , a coterie of politically and culturally non-indigenous leaders whose rule contravenes local values rooted in our national tradition. It is as if the United States has been occupied by a foreign

There’s something brewing that requires your attention. In response to our rogue federal government usurping the Constitutional role of the states, there are serious discussions under way concerning the assembly of a Constitutional Convention to promote the ‘State Repeal Power Amendment’ to the Constitution. What is being proposed is that any law, rule, regulation, tax, duty, impost or excise created by the federal government can be overturned by passing identical legislation nullifying any law by 2/3rds of the state legislatures. Does America still have Statesmen or simply Politicians? This is an uphill struggle, as are all Amendments to the Constitution, but it may be our last shot at protecting the framers’ concept of Federalism, where the states have their own sovereignty and are able to pass their own laws. Right now, the …

…Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb hardest hit. Joint Forces Command is, as the name implies, a body whose task is to consolidate redundant functions previously being performed independently by the various branches of the military in order to share resources. President Obama seeks to expand every social program in the country, but in order to be able to claim that he is fiscally conservative, other non-essential budgetary items must be cut, like national defense. Far be it from me to assert that the military doesn’t waste money, but to cut the one program whose core mission is to create savings is wrong-headed. But, Obama calculates that it is far more effective to use that money to buy votes by handing…

It’s great to see someone you respect and admire agree with you. In this case, it gets even better: Its the former UN Ambassador John Bolton. For two weeks, Democrats have attacked Republicans, and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell in particular, for pointing out that the financial regulation bill, offered by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-CT), doesn’t end “too big to fail” and actually allows for future taxpayer bailouts.
Before the bill came up for debate, Sen. McConnell warned, “This bill not only allows for taxpayer-funded bailouts of Wall Street banks; it institutionalizes them.” The next day, he explained, “If you need to know one thing about this bill, it’s that it would make it official government policy to bail out the biggest Wall Street banks. So if the administration is looking for bipartisan support on this Wall Street bill, they can start by eliminating this aspect of the bill — not because Republicans are asking for it, but because community bankers all across the country and American taxpayers are demanding it.”

Big evil corporations! Running all over the good citizens of the United States.
It seems that Goldman Sachs is the new demon the Obama Administration has turned their guns on, just in the nick of time to boost the need for Wall Street Reform.
“So something like the economic meltdown never happens again” they say.
It is indeed a strange argument to make that we need more laws to prevent a meltdown, whilst indicting Goldman Sachs under the old laws. Perhaps better enforcement of existing laws is an even better idea? (H/T – DJ)
Now we find out that this evil company that allegedly bilked all these poor folks donated $994,795.00 to the Obama Campaign.
Obama didn’t seem to have an aversion to the money made in the derivatives market while running for President. His new found distaste for this evil would demand he return the million – plus interest.

The U.S. Navy should interdict gasoline shipments to Iran to pressure the regime to halt its development of nuclear weapons — but President Obama doesn’t have the “courage” to do that, veteran political analyst Dick Morris tells Newsmax.
The best-selling author and regular Newsmax contributor also said the United States is more vulnerable to terrorist attacks because Obama has “terrorized” the anti-terror investigators. He also asserted that the president’s tax credit proposal for job creation should not pass.

The pictures are devastating. A nation barely scraping by has been leveled by a massive earthquake and the human toll may number in the millions. Buildings collapsed and what little infrastructure that existed has been wiped out.
As usual, Americans will jump in to aleviate the suffering and, hopefully, save some lives. And we should.
