Lawyer Lobbyist Assails Delegate Peace for Constitutional Positions

Claire Guthrie Gastanaga , who earned her stripes as a lieutenant in Attorney General Mary Sue Terry ‘s office, today castigated legislators for supporting the Virginia Health Care Freedom Act which defends constitutional liberties and principles of federalism. The Act states that no individual, with several specific exceptions, can be required to purchase health insurance coverage and was passed with broad bipartisan support, in sharp contrast to the narrow straight line left of center partisan vote that enacted the federal health care bill.

Virginia to Challenge Obamacare Health Mandates

For the first time in American history individuals and businesses will be forced by the Federal Government to purchase private health insurance.

Obamacare fundamentally alters our form of government and turns citizens whose rights come from our Creator, into serfs with obligations to lawless Washington predators.

Despite many hours of debate on Sunday, March 21, not one Democrat Congressman could provide the constitutional authority for the unprecedented takeover of one-sixth of the U.S. economy.

America’s foundational documents make it clear that the enumerated powers granted to Congress in Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution do not grant Congress the predatory powers or authority to compel citizens under threat of jail or heavy fines to forcibly enter into contracts for any good or service.

Delegate Peace (R-97) Holds Town Hall

Virginia Delegate Chris Peace (R-97) held a Town Hall meeting in Mechanicsville at the new Mechanicsville Library. The purpose of the meeting was to primarily get input for the upcoming Legislative session next month. Delegate Peace also asked that attendees fill out a survey on the issues expected to arise at the session.

He also speaks about the Tele-Town Hall he held the previous evening and gave the statistics from that conference.
