IS IRVING (TX) NEXT to GET OUT of ICLEI?!

This activist, Robert Kecseg, in Irving, TX had the right idea!  He went to staff first, was calm, did not call people names, mentioned the political aims of ICLEI, made the point is that a city council cannot be joined with a organization like ICLEI with a narrow political agenda.

Kecseg cited the quote about land from Agenda 21 that calls land a resource that must be publicly owned.

Here is the video.  (It’s okay to cheer but watch for over excitement!)

The Treasurer of the Irving Republican Women’s Club also urged the Irving City Council to get out of ICLEI:

Joyce Howard, treasurer of the Irving Republican Women’s Club, recently spoke to the Irving City Council regarding ICLEI and asked city officials to cancel their membership.

Thanks to the Stop Agenda 21 in Texas site!

5000 CHEER RON PAUL at UNIVERSITY of ILLINOIS!

Here’s the video from the Ron Paul rally in Champaign, IL.

YouTube Preview Image

It was estimated that 5,000 cheered Ron Paul’s message of liberty and personal responsibility.

Paul spoke for about an hour before an estimated 5,000 people, many of them chanting, “President Paul, President Paul,” Wednesday night at Huff Hall on the University of Illinois campus.

The organizers had to move it from one place to a larger place due to demand:

The event had to be moved to Huff from Foellinger Auditorium because demand for tickets exceeded the seating capacity at Foellinger.

Paul won at least one vote:

Lisa Grady of Bolingbrook said Paul’s speech convinced her to vote for him.

“He cares about getting us out of war and bringing jobs to American families,” she said.

It’s great to see the message of liberty spreading throughout the nation!

SOME Nice VIDEO and NEWS From the VERMONT RON PAUL RALLY in the STATE HOUSE!

Thanks to Jessica Bernier of the Vermont Coalition of Food Sovereignty and organizer of her state’s Ron Paul rally.

Here’s Jessica’s endorsement:

Here’s a RP singalong:

And here’s excerpts from a blog report from the Vermont Campaign for Liberty:

On this particular Saturday we were there to further Dr. Ron Paul’s bid for the Republican presidential nomination and commit to real change, the kind of change that can only come when citizens become informed, committed, active and energetic. We were there to reach out to people of all political philosophies, personal persuasions and lifestyle choices. We were farmers and lawyers and housewives and entrepreneurs and musicians and computer geeks. We were from the Northeast Kingdom and the Banana Belt, the ski towns and the small towns. We were Vermont and we were there to try to take our state and our fellow Vermonters back to when we were strong and self-reliant, when we cherished independence and respected each other and ourselves.

*  *  *

“We demand change and we are willing to work for it,” [organizer Steven] Howard said. As citizens of Vermont and the United States, he said, we can no longer accept the status quo and the two political parties which perpetuate it.

*  *  *

Speaker Jessica Bernier, founder of the Vermont Coalition for Food Sovereignty, reminded us that frugality and ruggedness are essential components of the true Vermont character.  “The Vermonter knows how to make do or do without,” Bernier said.

One thing Vermonters would like to do without, Bernier said, is the constant state of war the United States is in. She reminded the crowd that 18-year-old voters today have lived more than half their lives with their nation at war.

Bernier said issues of import to Vermonters have been taken over at the federal level even though people know better than government officials what is best for them. She called for returning authority to people and local institutions and urged us to use ideas to fight for liberty.

*  *  *

Dick Tracy of the Central Vermont Tea Party Coalition said the three core principles of his group are fiscal responsibility, limited constitutional government and support for free markets.  He illustrated the federal government’s inability to retrain its spending by pointing to our nation’s 15 trillion dollar debt.  *  *  *  Tracy cited Ron Paul and his support for free markets, which he described as nothing more complicated than willing buyers and willing sellers. He expressed concern about healthcare legislation which ignores the economic reality that healthcare is a limited commodity and seeks to subvert market forces.

*  *  *

New Hampshire liberty activist Chris Lawless talked about the methods employed in New Hampshire to earn Ron Paul a second place finish in that state’s January primary and urged us to get off our computers and go out and talk to people in Vermont.  You can’t let Romney get fifty percent,” Lawless said. He said Ron Paul needs to win a minimum of twenty percent of the votes cast March 6 in order to gain delegates and that translates into at least 8,000 votes. To reach that number, he said, we need to see through crude stereotypes, form coalitions of people from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints, find commonalities and reach out and get more people involved. Common sense, Lawless said, is our common ground.  *  *  *  “We are on the cusp of the next revolution,” He said. “We, the people, need to make the decisions to take back our towns, our states – take back what is ours.”

Blogger’s note:  We need to prevent Romney from getting 50% in the Commonwealth too!

[Civil libertarian Maurice] Kinney then cited the USAPATRIOT act as a “systematic effort to deprive us of our civil liberties” and said Ron Paul was the only candidate talking about this dangerous law.  *  *  *  Quoting Samuel Adams he said, “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.” He then urged us to be pyromaniacs for freedom.

Keynote speaker Robin Koerner, a blogger at the Huffington Post, publisher of WatchingAmerica.com and coiner of the phrase “Blue Republican,” converted to the Austrian economics viewpoint in his early thirties. He looked around the Vermont State legislative chamber at the more than 80 people in attendance and said “This is what a state capital looks like when it is actually filled with people who love liberty,” for which he received a resounding round of applause. *  *  *  Moving on to the current state of the nation, Koerner said Obama is Bush-plus and the only course for principled liberals and democrats is to support Ron Paul. He reeled off a list of abuses by the federal government, including corporations and lobbyists writing federal legislation, violations of the fourth amendment and due process laws, the National Defense Authorization Act and the lack of financial privacy. Some laws, he said, actually make it illegal to tell the truth. For instance, banks are required to file suspicious reports on their clients but cannot tell clients that the government is accessing their records, even if asked.
it was a great day in the Green Mountain state!  Thanks to Jessica Bernier for the info!

Rage Against the Fed: Punk Rocker Releases Pro Ron Paul Video!

Rage Against the Fed: Punk Rocker Releases Pro Ron Paul Video!

I am surprised that my fellow blogger Sandy here at Va Right! has not already posted this. There is little about Congressman Ron Paul that escapes his notice. Perhaps Metallica will do a version. Not that the song is bad, it’s actually quite good. But Kirk Hammett would be a brilliant addition with a bit more scream to the lead!

H/T to Daily Caller for the post:

It was only a matter of time, but someone’s finally gone and recorded a punk rock anthem for GOP presidential candidate and contrarian Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

Released on YouTube Wednesday, the song, written by musician Erik LaVergne and titled simply “Ron Paul Punk Rock Anthem,” is perhaps the first punk song in history to advocate Austrian School monetary theory.

“We know how to fix this mess,” LaVergne shouts. “Fire Ben and the printing press!”

And who best to fix this mess? “RON PAUL!” says the chorus. “RON PAUL!”

LaVergne said he was inspired to compose the song because of “lies, propaganda, empty promises, theft, corruption, endless war and economic failure; at the hands of our current and previous administrations.”

POLITICO: NEW RON PAUL AD! SANDY SAYS: AWESOME!

Here is the new Ron Paul ad according to Politico:

MORE – THE NARRATOR’S SCRIPT: “It’s the story of a lost city, lost opportunity, lost hope. A story of failed policies, failed leadership. A story of smooth-talking politicians, games of ‘he said, she said,’ rhetoric and division. One man has stood apart, stood strong and true. Voting against every tax increase. every unbalanced budget, every time. Standing up to the Washington machine. Guided by principle. Ron Paul, the one who will stop the spending, save the dollar, create jobs, bring peace, the one who will restore liberty. Ron Paul, the one who can beat Obama and restore America now.” Watch the ad: http://bit.ly/mSbBEF.

AWESOME RON PAUL AD RUNS in NEVADA!

The awesome Ron Paul 2012 ad I featured here at Virginia Right a few days ago, is slated for running in Nevada:

An ad that began running Friday in the first-in-the-nation caucus and primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire will extend to Nevada, which comes third in the nation’s caucus calendar.

“Nevada is a key constituency with important and growing influence on the national political environment,” said Jesse Benton, Paul’s campaign chair. “Dr. Paul plans to win the state in 2012.”

Here it is:

Left Wing ‘Media Matters’ Claims Voter Fraud Charges in Wisconsin Judge Race Baseless – When They Thought Democrat Won

Poor left wing fruitcakes. The George Soros funded Republican Bashing site Media Matters made this statement when they thought that Democratic Judge Candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court hopeful JoAnne Kloppenburg had won the race, moving the court to the left:

Right-wing media reacted to news that Democrat-backed JoAnne Kloppenburg emerged from Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election with a small lead by predictably bringing up baseless allegations of voter fraud. The right-wing media regularly uses voter fraud to respond to elections where a Democrat wins or is winning, especially following a close race.

And as we see by the video, FoxNews reported that there were problems with the votes, and perhaps some of the voters were underage.

Now we know that there were problems with the votes. It turns out that Waukesha County screwed the pooch by over 14,000 votes. The error was blamed on operator error with a Microsoft Access Database. It seems that votes from the city of Brookfield were left out of the count. The clerk initially failed to report 14,325 votes in the initial numbers reported by AP. Upon further review, the numbers were corrected to reflect the accurate count.  And in a tight race with a Democrat leading by 204 votes, 14,325 votes are significant. A game changer, in fact.

Especially when the breakdown was decidedly in favor of Incumbent David Prosser who received 10,859 to Kloppenburg’s 3,456.

Daily Caller reports:

“This is not a case of extra votes being found. This was human error, which I apologize for,” said county clerk Kathy Nickolaus, adding that the canvass procedure is designed to catch such errors.

When asked about accusations of voter fraud, Nickolaus, who is a Republican, cited the canvassing process:

“I’m thankful that the error was found early in the process,” she said. “Anyone who sat in on that canvass could see what we are doing.”

Democratic canvass watcher Ramona Kitzinger was also at the press conference.

“We went over everything & made sure the numbers jibed up and they did,” Kitzinger said. “We’re satisfied that it’s correct.”

And, of course, we are all relieved to know that Media Matters has already cleared up any idea that there was any voter fraud in this election. So there can be no doubt Conservative Judge Prosser won. And that he will also be the one to decide if the Republicans acted properly in passing the law limiting the Public Union’s collective bargaining privileges.
How long will it take Media Matters and the loony left to start charging voter fraud and crying foul now that their left wing darling looks to be down for the count?

Teacher Re-Writes the Pledge of Allegiance

This is just wrong on so many levels, were do you even begin. First, a teacher has decided that the Pledge of Allegiance is too difficult for our kids to recite and has revised it to a “kid friendly” version.

This is from the NEA website:

Michael Szewczyk, a fourth grade teacher at Berkeley Terrace School in Irvington, New Jersey

Each morning, public school students have to stand and salute the flag by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. After my students complete the Pledge in its standard form, we repeat it in a kid friendly style that is more understandable and meaningful for them. The following is the student version that we created together. I promise my faithfulness to the banner of the United States of America and to our government, for which it stands, one country under God, for which we will stick together, and freedom and fairness for all.

Secondly, the fact that the principal or school system did not stop this and it rose to the level of getting recognition of the NEA, well it is appalling. If it is so difficult for the teachers to teach the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance well, might I suggest this video of Red Skelton.

Virginia Senate Democrats Didn’t Get the Civility Memo

Yesterday,  Tom White posted about the Virginia Senate Democrats disregard for the rules. So, today I was not the least bit surprised when a friend in Sen. Stosch’s (R-12th) district call to tell me she just got a robo call from a group called Commonwealth Victory Fund, which is a Democratic Party 527 group. The calls apparently were targeting Sen. Stosch and Sen. Norment for their positions on gun rights and business legislation. Although, according to Sen. Stosch, the calls were completely misleading constituents on his position.

[Stosch's] office had to deal with and respond to the calls of our constituents who were mislead. Many were angry when they learned of the sponsor of the robo calls ….. Commonwealth Victory Fund.

and the games continue.

Is Former DHS Secretary Chertoff Making Money Off TSA Scanners?

File this under “never let a crisis go to waste” and “strike while the iron is hot” or in this case while the iron is luke warm. On the floor of the house this week, two congressmen, Rep. Duncan and Rep. Paul, claim that the scanners were merely a “sweetheart deal” that is costing American taxpayers 300,000,000.00 for 1000 scanners and the deal maker is none other than Former Secretary of DHS, Micheal Chertoff.

YouTube Preview Image
Here is what we know so far, just days after the “underwear bomber” attempted to explode a bomb on Christmas Day 2009, Former Secretary, Michael Chertoff had this article in the Washington Post in which he stated:

During my time as secretary of homeland security, the Transportation Security Administration began working to replace the 1970s-era metal detectors used at airports across America with modern technology able to detect non-metal weapons concealed by terrorists on their bodies — even in their underwear, where Abdulmutallab allegedly hid his bomb. The latest versions of these machines — sometimes called whole-body imagers — are deployed at 19 airports, and the TSA is attempting to place them throughout the nation.

So these scanners were in the “works” even before the close call with the “underwear bomber”, but what was not disclosed at the time is that the Chertoff Group, his security consulting agency, represents Rapiscan, the manufacture of the body scanners that the TSA is using.

As Anderson Cooper reported on CNN, Wednesday, Chertoff has continued to advocate for the use of the scanners ever since the Christmas incident, without disclosing his financial interest. This has drawn criticism for airport passenger’s right groups.

“Mr. Chertoff should not be allowed to abuse the trust the public has placed in him as a former public servant to privately gain from the sale of full-body scanners under the pretense that the scanners would have detected this particular type of explosive,’’ said Kate Hanni, founder of FlyersRights.org.

And rightly so, I might add. There has been much speculation about whether the scanners would have worked experts seem to stop short of certainty citing there is always room for human error.

So, we had our “crisis” and it appears that for this crisis, not only did we not let it go to waste, we were prepare for it. I am sure the controversy is far from over and there are other details that need to be follow-up on, such as what happen to the legislation that would have stop this.  So stay tuned, there is a lot more on this.

Socialism IS Cool?

Yesterday in Charlottesville, President Obama made a campaign stop for Tom Perriello and as Tom White stated in his post:

… this is a golden opportunity for Obama to let the other radical lefties in his camp that he will not abandon them – even when all hope is lost.

And Charlottesville, VA was the perfect place for this occur.

American for Prosperity, an organization that has been specifically single out and attacked by President Obama, decided to welcome the President’s supporters with a FREE gift. A bumper sticker that says, “Socialism ISN’T Cool”. Well, as you can see from the video, they could not give the bumper stickers away despite them being FREE and even “green”.
