While I am appealing to important officials on political matters, I now turn from the state’s chief executive to the Lieutenant Governor and his possible intent to run for governor as an independent.  My appeal here is:  Don’t do it.  Please.  You are being used by liberals to destroy the great gains that Republicans have made in the Commonwealth.  Now your integrity is in danger, too.

I did respond to the email request sent me by Lt. Gov. Bolling in re an independent bid.  I would say this:  If you have a genuine principled reason to oppose the Attorney General, than you should run.  It’s a free country (well, still as of the writing of this blog since I have neither been indefinitely detained under NDAA nor hit with an unmanned drone!) and it is honorable to run for office.

But the differences between you and the Attorney General are minor.  In fact your voting record I am told is just as conservative as AG Cuccinelli.  What is the philosophical differences?  There is no hint that Cuccinelli is corrupt or venal.  In fact he is as upright as you are.  He took on Obamacare.  (He cannot be blamed for the result.)  He took on a professor accused of cooking data to support global warming.  He took on the EPA when it sought to declare storm water a pollutant!  And he won!  Probably saved a ton of money for Fairfax County.  Attorney General Cuccinelli is motivated by the law and principle in his actions – agree or not.

So what is it?  it looks like ego or sour grapes.  Ken wouldn’t wait his turn.  Some are saying that this is about a seat in the Dems cabinet – which would have the effect of raising your pension in state service.  Even if you got the cabinet position, what could you do with it?  The General Assembly Republicans would not work with you and nor would the Democrats.  You would be stuck in a useless position and your political legacy would be irrevocably tarnished.

Even if you won the Governorship, you could do little for the same reasons as the cabinet position.  Yes, you could appoint people.  But what does that do in the long run?  Does it build the party?  Make Virginia a better place?  I know you are more honorable than that.

So I appeal to my fellow Hanoverian, my Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, to do the right thing:  Endorse and support our nominee for Governor – At this moment the only candidate is Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.  Get behind him.  There can be a turn in politics for you when you do the right thing – especially if it is the Lord’s will.

Bill Bolling must not run for Gov. in any form or fashion. We must unite behind Ken. Any infighting will only make it easy for liberals to take Va. Only unity and hard work can prevent a liberal landslide. Va. must not be allowed to turn blue

Cuccinelli is crazy. Terry McAuliffe is a pompous jack-ass. Rather waste my vote on a smart, sensible guy like Bill than say I had a part in letting either Ken or T-Mac get into the Governor’s Mansion.
