Attention Hanover County Residents: New Hanover Facebook Page Scares Public Officials

Do you know what one single thing allows politicians and bureaucrats to get away with ripping you off?

A lack of communications.

Nothing keeps people honest like their neighbors and constituents getting together and discussing the issues. And discussing the actions of County officials.

Are they plotting to bring in low income apartments? Well, Supervisor Angela Kelly-Wicek is all in for that debacle.

Did you know that the county is considering dumping industrial sludge – potentially toxic – on the ground in Hanover? What will that do to the drinking water?

More shopping centers, Walmarts, Movie Theaters, taxes and traffic.

Did you know that many of our neighbors are plugged into these things? And now there is a place where any citizen of Hanover can get together online and discuss the happenings in our county. Conveniently located at your local neighborhood Facebook.

Check it out. And tell your friends:

A.k. Wicek is a progressive and needs to be stopped before she destroys Hanover county in it’s entirety!

The purpose in putting up some 75 or so TEA Party signs was exactly for this reason. If anyone cares to remember shortly after we had placed a message stating the Hanover School Superintendents grossly inflated salary of some $249,000 he resigned (announced his retirement) After we messaged a sign that Lee-Davis High School had 4 assistant principals Lee-Davis reduced the number to 3. Not long after last January’s message on Del Chris Peace’s YES vote on last years budget and the opening of the door by that very budgets language a firestorm of controversy ( and publicity) opened up like flood gates, throwing a log onto the fast track of Medicaid Expansion. Those signs have been used effectively to root out entrenched incumbents at both the local and national level, citing their records on votes and tax increases they supported.

Yet look at how they are being used today. Read the messages on them and ask exactly what are they trying to actually do ? A historical quote from Jefferson or Adams , does that change even one single vote on the Hanover BOS or the G.A ? No, it is a horrible miscalculation and a waste of these valuable signs to watch them used in such a foolish manner, rendering them totally ineffective. Elected officials can be as Mike Giere has observed “contained” with public pressure exposing their official votes/actions , but one must have the backbone to do so without concern for how they will react. If they can’t stand the heat they should stay out of the kitchen, and these TEA Party leaders need to step aside and allow someone to take the reigns who isn’t petrified at the thought of angering these clowns.
