Boycott Outback? Waitress Says She Was Fired For Tea Party Bracelet!

Ok. I’m not going back to Outback Steak House any time soon. This is absolutely absurd. Fired for wearing a Gadsden Bracelet? Restaurants aren’t doing so great right now. But I guess Outback can afford to lose TEA Party Patriots.

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) — A Crystal Lake waitress says she lost her job because she wore a Tea Party bracelet to work.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Bob Conway reports, Megan Geller, 23, tells the Northwest Herald she wears the bracelet with the words “Don’t Tread on Me,” the phrase that appears beneath the iconic snake on the yellow Gadsden flag, and which is often seen and heard at Tea Party rallies.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the former server was fired, not for wearing a bracelet, but due to a history of poor customer performance and that this incident was the proverbial straw? That maybe she is not the innocent little lamb that she claims to be? That numerous other employees have contradicted what she has claimed on their Facebook pages? Probably not, you saw a flag being waved and dutifully followed, not once considering the whole story.

So you believe that the bracelet had nothing to do with this totally inept waitress who did a horrible job day after day being fired on the day a customer complained about the bracelet?

      Just a complete coincidence?

Sorry. I’m not buying that. She would still be employed had she not worn the bracelet.

I never said she was inept, just that she had a history of poor performance.

Are you even thinking about this story from a rational point of view? Do you really think that she was fired, because a couple complained that she was wearing a bracelet? And that the manager/ owner is some raving lefty that he fired her for wearing it? Even though in the article that you linked to states, "Geller claims she wore the bracelet "for months" with no prior warning from restaurant management and was never asked to remove the bracelet." And that she politely asked the customers not to discuss politics with her at work? Really? If the customers were that belligerent, all Ms. Geller had to do was ask her manager to have another server take the table. But you are correct, one complaint was all it took to fire her. And every person in prison is innocent, right?
You are correct on one thing, she would still have a job had she not worn that bracelet. Then she would have not had a reason to get in an argument with the customers. Notice, the part where I said she argued with the customers, not the manager. I realize that was not reported in the linked story, but there were numerous other employees there that night, whom have said that she actually argued with the customers, before arguing with management.
