As a father and grandfather, I grieve with the nation over the recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Watching the White House townhall with the bereaved family members, survivors of the shooting, and educators was enlightening.  There were basically two groups that met with President Trump, and they mirror the two visions of government for this nation.

One group understands that in a free society there exists danger, and a wise person may desire that the danger should not exist, but they want to be prepared for it, if, and when it comes.

The second group merely wishes that there was no danger; that a law could be passed that would take care of the problem and eliminate the need to have individuals take a defensive position when evils comes knocking.  And, because we are dealing with fallen humanity, we know that evil does and will come knocking again.

I found it amazing that President Trump offered the most sane and obvious solution, and one that could be implemented quickly.  A solution that could have demonstrable effectiveness:  eliminate the target on the school, as a result of it being a “gun free zone.”

We protect everything we value with guns:  Presidents and legislators; banks and jewelry stores; actors and actresses; athletes and the billionaires who pay them.  But the same leftists who pour hate on police officers that use guns to defend us from internal threats; and soldiers that use guns to protect us from external threats; are now pushing against the idea of arming teachers to protect our children from crazed killers.

The President suggested that some school teachers, and other school personnel, could become gun qualified, as not only a deterrent, but also in case of another attack.  In spite of the obvious, and understandable pain of these parents and teachers who oppose President Trump’s suggestion of arming teachers, I would ask them the tough question, “Why is it okay and admirable for a teacher to throw himself/herself into the line of fire in front of students to take the bullet while they are unarmed, but it’s not okay, or admirable, for that same teacher to get in front of the students with a gun to shoot back?

I know we should not press a grieving parent, but this obvious question must be put to our society at large.

Many of the nation’s voters wanted a real man’s man as President.  In President Trump, we now have one.

In the video clip below, one of the grieving fathers pleaded with all gathered, to keep the gun control debate separate from the issue of protecting our children.  Our “real man” President heard him.  Do we have what it takes to follow his lead?

I believe that the seventeen fallen would want the students at any future incident to have a fighting chance.  Perhaps, then, they could rest in peace . . .

You failed to mention the complete failure once again of the corrupt Trump FBI, and the complete failure of the corrupt “Coward” County Florida law enforcement. This is now the failed corrupt Trump FBI, supervised by the failed corrupt Trump Justice dept.. This is all the typical backwards America. You people cannot fix any problem because you have become a Godless society, and are basically blind. You are running around screaming for government to save your asses from the demons that you yourself have created. Money is your god. You do not take care of your sick, your old, nor your children. Your motto has become, “everybody else is doing it”. And now, in addition to teaching, and raising peoples children for them, you want little old lady teachers to provide security?????

I asked a friend of of mine years ago who is a gun freek, what good do all your guns do if somebody with a gun already has the drop on you? He didn’t have any answer. I cannot picture any of my 60’s school teachers with a gun. I remember another gun freek friend of mine about 30 years ago. He sits a coke can on a fence post. He then backs up about 10 ft., and puts on his fancy shooting glasses. He then proceeds to take out his expensive .357, take carefull aim, and empty the gun slowly, one bullet at a time, trying to hit that tin can 10 ft. away. That coke can was safe. He simply could not hit it. Tom, you now expect a little old lady teacher to pull a little toy pistol out of her purse, run down the hall and confront a mental patient high on prescription drugs who has an AR rifle shooting everything in sight. All the while the sheriff is outside hiding in the bushes, and the Trump FBI is busy sexting. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, Tom. You have lost your mind. No, you have lost God, Tom. You no longer know right from wrong.

Let me make it clear, I do not like guns nor violence. But, I do not want to give up my right to own a gun if I choose to do so.

Soon, you people will be begging and screaming for God to save you.

What has worked in Israel will work here. The other day someone mentioned you never see a shooter at an NRA convention, a police station or a hunt club…..because they know they won’t survive.

Adequate screening and training will insure we don’t arm a teacher or school administrator who has emotional or mental stability issues

We can decry the soulless moral bankruptcy that has lent to the behavior of these types of clearly ill individuals ……or we can do something about the problem. We can go bankrupt putting Resource officers at every school ( minimum of $100,000 a year) or we can use a solution that has clearly worked in Israel.

Trump has been in office for a year, and these shootings have gone on for decades now. Bashing Trump or any politician in this instance achieves nothing, with the exception of giving people with the Trump derangement syndrome a chance to bash the President.

Really, what works in Israel will work here you say? Then why do we have the TSA and its 47,000 screeners instead of doing airport screening the way Israel does? I put that question to Congressman Wittman many years ago, still waiting for an answer. Perhaps you will enlighten?

In the U.S ” profiling” is not only discouraged but avoided so we have 89 year old grandmothers being stripped searched wasting enormous time and energy ,resources because we want to be politically correct.

Contrast that with Israel. The focus is on Muslim males between the ages of 18-45 and the Israelis don’t care about criticism , they care about being effective. 89 year old Grandmothers are not the target, but here we have to be PC.

After the attacks in September of 2001 the various trough feeders in the Civil Service saw a golden opportunity to create this new massive federal agency, staffed with tens of thousands of new federal employees . Just look at the ” failed tests” that have been conducted with various contraband making it through security.

Not only does ” political correctness” waste an enormous amount of time and money, but isn’t even effective at stopping considerable numbers boarding planes with banned substances.
If you expect Cong Wittman to ever give you a answer to any questions requiring truth and facts….good luck

By “trough feeders” you no doubt are refering Republicans led by Bush 43’? 95% or more teachers would refuse to carry guns, so it really makes no difference. The vast majority of teachers that I am familiar with are Democrat, and they ain’t going to carry a gun. Run up the debt, paid six figure salary’s, then you can attract gun freeks to the classroom. But, they won’t be able to handle the stress of raising kids for their parents.
