Closed Down Richmond Diamond Baseball Field Lighting Up The Boulevard Night

The old baseball field in Richmond, The Diamond, was closed after the Richmond Braves deserted Richmond for greener pastures. Word is, we will be getting a double “A” team next year. I suppose someone used the old Motel 6 slogan “We’ll leave the lights on for you”.

I drove by last night returning from a function and noticed the large number of spotlights and general lighting illuminating the Boulevard area. The Marquis sign stood out like a great glowing beacon, especially since there were no letters on it to obstruct the light.

I am just curious as to who pays the bills for this. Is it the City of Richmond? This is just a total waste of money.
