I promised I would not write about state/national politics while I was “running for” judge but this is not about state/national politics:  The Richmond Crusade for Voters is having a candidates forum Sunday October 19 from 3-5 PM at the VUU Auditorium.  Here’s the street address:

Virginia Union University
John M. Ellison Hall
1500 N. Lombardy St. • Richmond, VA 23220

I will be there and I am slated to be the moderator (first time I have been accused of being moderate about anything!) and asking the questions to the candidates.

Here’s who is scheduled to come (in alphabetical order):

US Senate:

Libertarian Robert Sarvis

Seventh US House District

Libertarian James Carr

Special Election for State Senate – 16th District

Independent Preston Brown

Democrat Del. Rosalyn Dance

Richmond Clerk of Court

Independent Emmett J. Jafari

Democrat Ed Jewett

My readers will notice:  No Ed Gillespie or Sen. Mark Warner?  And where are Drs. Dave Brat and  Jack Trammell?

They have not confirmed yet.  If you have influence with any of these candidates get them to come!  Call them – email them – encourage them to come.

  1. Mark says:

I hope that all Libertarians will take note of who Rand Paul was at an event with yesterday (Oct 15, 2014) in Ashland, VA. Was it Robert Savis or James Carr? No, it was Dave Brat and Ed Gillespie. I hope that many will stop and ask themselves why was it that Rand Paul was not at an event with Savis and Carr? So I hope that this will make people stop and seriously consider who they will be voting for. What I have heard from other Libertarians that they have never knew of either Sarvis or Carr before they ran for public office, which means that they were not apart of the Libertarian movement in Virginia. Why is that and what is their motivation for running for office?

  2. Actual Libertarian says:

Rand Paul is NOT a Libertarian so it makes sense that he is backing the establishment candidates. Brat is far from Libertarian, would further polarize Washington, and is scared to debate the other candidates. How anyone claiming to be Liberty-minded would still support him is beyond me.
You ask why no one heard of Sarvis or Carr before they ran for office. That implies that one cannot be moved into action outside some preset idea of a proper order or that your particular idea of what the Libertarian movement is requires specific qualifications. Honestly, people who do not have the spine to vote outside the 2 controlling parties because have either no spine or are blind to the failings of the past. Repeating the same mistakes and hoping for different results is pathetic. Brat is Cantor, a party puppet. Try to question him on anything. He folds like a cheap suit or his handlers yank him away. There is no substance behind the smile.

  1. […] that the liberty message was heard when Robert Sarvis was invited to a Crusade event in 2013 and Sarvis came again as the US Senate candidate with 7th district hopeful James Carr in 2014.) so I believe Keith is a real deal and will do a fine job on the Henrico School […]
