CONGRATS to the New GOP National Committeewoman: Cynthia Dunbar!

I had the privilege of interviewing Cynthia Dunbar several months ago and it was fun to discuss this with a hero of mine (for her work on the Texas Board of Ed) and I was pleased to hear that Dunbar won!

She is National Committeewoman!  I’ll certainly keep in touch when I need to share with the GOP leadership!

Congrats to Cynthia!

While I am not big on conventions, I think it all turned out great.

I went to the 2016 Virginia Republican Conventionwith two goals. One was to replace John Whitbeck with Vince Haley and the second was to elect Cynthia Dunbar. Friday’s effort to change the rules in order to get Vince back on the ballot failed miserably so we drove home defeated. On Saturday our hopes were lifted to hear Cynthia outnumbered Suz on the popular vote but the weighted vote favored the Obershane dynasty with the first ballot but failed to meet the 51 percent victory. We looked around and noticed the hall was emptying and seats priorly occupied by our opponent’s delegates had become empty. The second vote was taken after the third candidate was eliminated. The rules were thankfully amended to allow the state delegate election to be taken during the counting of the committeewoman votes. A vocal shout out failed to reder conclusions so a district standing report was voiced at the podium rendering overwhelming Slate one superiority however that weighted vote still to be computed added suspense. Shouts of joy erupted from the Hanover County delegation that the National Delegation won a 10 Cruz 3 Trump slate. But the Suz / Cynthia question was not announced until after the national Delegation. My favorite Cynthia Dunbar won the election. It was so nice to have two victories in a row. I left feeling jubilant.

The GOP Establishment pulled a third candidate spoiler out of the woodwork the week of the election to insure Suzanne Obenshain’s election and it backfired on them.

Rules? Who needs Rules? Every trick in the Book was pulled to defeat Dunbar and Hanover County Delegates and their weighting carried Dunbar to Victory….

Guess the Grassroots showed them. Virginia is DONE with the Obenshains. Message RECEIVED?
