Congressman Tom Perriello (D-Va) has managed to raise over $600,000 in the first quarter of 2010 for his reelection campaign for the U.S. House and has $1.4 million cash on hand. And while left wing pundits and blogs high five over the total contributions, a close look at where this money came from may just throw cold water on the Progressive’s celebration.
The largest single donor to the Perriello effort was ActBlue, a Democratic National Committee PAC that a Michelle Malkin article that claims “turns off the Address Verification and CVV2 security features, which allows for untraceable, unlimited online donations.”
Actblue has donated almost $20,000 to Perriello, the top single donor, followed by the University of Virginia at $12,200.
The remainder of the big money donors are unions and PACs including the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees Union, Carpenters and Joiners Union, Operating Engineer’s Union, United Steelworkers, and of course the infamous SEIU with their ACORN connections.
PACs include AmericaPAC, Bridge PAC, PAC to the future, Solidarity PAC, Mesabi Fund, and the Nancy Pelosi for Congress fund.
What makes this so remarkable is the statement from the Perriello Campaign:
“With not a dollar of federal lobbyist money in our campaign coffer and over 7,600 donors, we are proving that a people-powered campaign can win over the big insurance companies and big energy companies that have dominated our political system for so long,” Anna Scholl, finance director for the Perriello campaign, said in a statement. “Working and middle-class families of Virginia know that Congressman Perriello represents them, not the special interests.”
Perhaps Congressman Perriello is unaware that the public is free to see the list of special interests he is now indebted to online at Opensecrets.org, the source of this information.

guess we know where he stands on any future “card check” legislation, huh?
I see his boss Nancy Pelosi gave him a donation.
Why is a publicly funded university donating money to a political candidate?!? Did he pop in to vbist little George while he was in New York?
