I have received this from Sue Long in re: Anthony Bavuso and Greg Garrett for a protest in York County May 14.  It is worth it, especially if you live in York County.  I know Bavuso and Garrett from their fight that went to the Supreme Court of VA.

Please join us in downtown Yorktown this coming Wednesday night, May 14th at 6:00 pm.

The York County Supervisors are getting ready to rezone the land owned by as many as 4000-7000 landowners (maybe yours) in York County and REMOVE our existing farming rights.. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Delegates Brenda Pogge, Gordon Helsel & Rick Morris have agreed to speak along with some property rights heroes from other parts of the state.

Please join us in downtown Yorktown this coming Wednesday night, May 14th at 6:00 pm.

The Rally ends at 7:00 PM and the Planning Commission Meeting starts which is just as important as the Rally. If you can stay or even if you can’t make it to the 6:00-7:00 Rally at all, PLEASE COME INTO THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING and sign up to speak or just sit and listen in support of your neighbors. This meeting could still be going on at 10:00 or after, but you can leave anytime you wish.

This is not just about property rights, farming rights, cleaning the Bay & oysters. It is about stopping the abuse of power by our local elected officials. Your voice and presence WILL make a difference. Being there will show your concern and your willingness to step outside of your comfort zone to confront a potential change in York County that is unacceptable… Please pass the word, and invite friends and neighbors to join us. Thank you so much.

Virginia’s Pitchfork Protest III:
Removing Rights is Wrong!!

The Next Battle for Property Rights in Virginia Is in Liberty Landmark York County

Following the Virginia General Assembly’s passage of 2 new laws with overwhelming statewide majority this year limiting how counties may require permits for agricultural and aquaculture on land zoned for it. York County has announced that it will probably eliminate the existing right to conduct agricultural at least in York Point area of Seaford, and has targeted local oyster farmers (like me) for “special use” permitting in contravention of these recently enacted state laws.
Speakers: Farmer Martha Boneta, Virginia Delegate Brenda Pogge, Virginia Delegate Gordon Helsel, Virginia Delegate Rick Morris, Lois Smith (President of Virginia Independent Consumers and Farmers Association), King George County Supervisor Ruby Brabo, Mark Fitzgibbons (constitutional attorney), & owners of York County oyster farms: Anthony Bavuso and Greg Garrett.
When: Wednesday, May 14, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Where: York Hall, 301 Main Street, Yorktown, Virginia
Why: This citizen-based, grassroots protest will call attention to this unprecedented potential action of the York County Board of Supervisors. The “Pitchfork Protest” has come to symbolize citizens’ taking action to protect their property and other constitutionally protected rights, especially against zoning abuses and overreach by local governments.
