Del. Les Adams announces his Re-Election Bid!

Delegate Les Adams, Republican from Chatham, today announced the start of his campaign for re-election this fall to the House of Delegates in Virginia’s General Assembly.  Adams represents the 16th House District which includes the City of Martinsville and parts of Henry and Pittsylvania Counties.

Adams stated, “It has been a tremendous privilege to represent the people of the 16th House District in Richmond during my first term in office.  I am looking forward to continuing that service in the coming years and am eager to provide an increasingly strong voice for us as we work together to meet the needs of Southside Virginia.”

Adams continued, “In my first campaign for office, I pledged to deliver principled, conservative leadership that reflects the values and concerns of our people.  My voting record shows that commitment and demonstrates the reliable consistency needed to address our future challenges.”

Adams received an “A+” rating by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce in their Legislative Report Card for the 2015 session.  He also received a “100% Pro-Family” score by the Family Foundation in their 2014-2015 Virginia General Assembly Report Card.

Adams is committed to improving Virginia’s economic climate for small business and free enterprise generally.  In his first term, Adams successfully sponsored legislation that helps protect small and minority-owned businesses on state procurement contracts and has co-sponsored other measures to increase the competitiveness of Southside businesses.

Adams remains unwavering in his defense of foundational American principles and his commitment to limited government, individual responsibility and traditional moral values; commitments that will be of increasing importance in future sessions.  Adams explains, “In consideration of the recent decision issued by a majority of justices on the United States Supreme Court, we should be prepared for attacks on our religious freedom.  When those attacks come, I will stand strong in defense of our religious liberties, and where still possible, affirm the longstanding institution of traditional marriage.”

Adams serves on the House Courts of Justice Committee, which includes his appointments to the Criminal Law Subcommittee and the Judicial Panel, as well as the Science and Technology Committee.  Other appointments which Adams received include a seat on the Commission for Block Grants and membership to the Board of Trustees of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

Adams, 41, is a practicing attorney and partner at the law firm of Adams, Elmore and Fisk, PLC in Chatham, where he resides with his wife, Melanie, and their two sons, Roger and Garrett.
