Small-business, non-profit, human services leaders and advocates joined at a breakfast today to praise Chris for his efforts to fight for the disabled, seniors, women and children, and victims of domestic violence.

Mechanicsville, VA – Delegate Christopher K. Peace announced today that he will seek re-election to the 97th District in the House of Delegates. Headlining Peace’s kick-off breakfast hosted at the American Legion Post 175in Mechanicsville, Congressman David Brat (R-7th District) complimented the Delegate for his conservative leadership in Richmond and for his thoughtful approach to representative democracy. Hanover Supervisors Canova Peterson and Angela Kelly-Wiecek, Clerk Frank Hargrove, Jr., Treasurer Scott Miller, Commonwealth Attorney Trip Chalkley, New Kent Sheriff Wakie Howard, Supervisor Thomas Evelyn, and King William Commissioner of the Revenue Sally Pearson among others joined Peace for the kickoff. Delegate Peace’s father, Dr. Karl Peace, also was present for this special event.

Delegate Peace has represented the 97th House District since first being elected in 2006, and he is frequently rated one of Virginia’s most business-friendly conservatives. Peace’s voting record shows a consistent focus on opposing tax increases, protecting family values defending the Constitution, and promoting job creation and a high quality of life in Hanover, King William and New Kent counties. On announcing his candidacy for re-election as the Republican nominee, Delegate Peace prepared the following statement,

“With great humility, I intend to seek re-election to the office of Delegate for the 97th District in the Virginia General Assembly. At home, my office remains creative and responsive to all constituent concerns. In Richmond, I want to represent the people’s best interests in developing and managing state public policy. I want to earn your vote as one one of Virginia’s most business-friendly conservatives with a voting record focused on opposing tax increases, protecting family values, defending the Constitution, and promoting job creation and a high quality of life in Hanover, King William and New Kent counties.”

Speaking to Del. Peace’s impact on the brain injury community, Jason Young, Executive Director, Community Brain Injury Services stated that his recent legislative successes will increase the quality of life of residents across the District and the Commonwealth.  Additional remarks were offered by Kristie VanAudenhove, Executive Director of Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance, and Sheree Hedrick, Executive Director, Hanover Safe Place.  With the passage of recent domestic violence reform measures Peace’s work will streamline services and increase efficiencies to better address the needs of victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Peace’s heart for strengthening families and protection of children in our communities was highlighted by Janet Kelly, former Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth.  Mrs. Kelly shared details about personal interactions with Peace on matters of family law, adoption, and foster care.  Melissa Ball, a Hanover resident and small business owner, stated that just as she wants to keep all of her well performing employees and in much the same way hopes the voters of the District will “re-hire Delegate Peace this November.”

In his prepared statement to media, Peace outlined how DC lawmakers have been the source of policy after policies that make it harder to create jobs. He noted how in Richmond the Assembly passed legislation making it easier for small businesses to find the funding to start and grow. This efficient and effective leadership of which Peace has been a part is total absent in Washington, D.C. where there is rampant debt, deficits and higher taxes. Alternatively in Richmond there are balanced budgets and cuts in discretionary spending. In fact, the House has killed 26 separate tax increases worth over $30 B since 2003, and Peace strongly opposed expanding Obamacare in Virginia. Last year’s $2.4 B shortfall crisis was solved by not by grabbing the “free” money from Obamacare but by making tough choices to balance the budget. Virginia now spends $1B less in general fund dollars than in last year’s original budget.  For all those working families in the District, the legislature also eliminated $11.7 M in fees and $33 M in debt proposed by Governor McAuliffe.  Working together against future shortfalls, Republicans and Democrats pre-paid the 2017 rainy day fund deposit.

Delegate Peace’s priorities last session and going forward will remain promoting an atmosphere which will encourage the private sector to create good and well-paying jobs, a state government which will partner with our localities to improve our schools, and ensure that college is more affordable, and ultimately to protect our most vulnerable citizens. Peace continued in his re-election statement,

“I am seeking re-election to represent the home and community that I love. I commit to work every day to find solutions for hard working families so that it becomes a better place to live, work and raise a family. While challenges exist, I believe that there are no problems that we cannot solve together as a community. When we decide that America remains the greatest country in the world with a dream intact, we will realize greater opportunities. When we reject the divisive tone of our local and state politic, we will be able to achieve great things for our shared community.

Working together we can continue to improve how government serves its people in more efficient and effective ways. We can and must keep the burden of taxes from increasing on our citizens and businesses and we must never forget who we are and what we believe in. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve and I look forward to continuing to represent the citizens of this District in the Virginia House of Delegates for another two years.”

Cold Harbor Planning Commissioner Ashley Peace- wife of Delegate Chris Peace- is the largest conflict of interest in Hanover County.

  2. sydney Moser says:

I am always amazed at Hanover Voters who, for years, have voted to elect Delegates to the General Assembly to vote on funding for Public Education and for “the children” who don’t choose Public Schools for their own children.

Chris Peace attended the prestigious St. Christopher School in Richmond whose current tuition is upwards of $25,000. His own daughter attends the prestigious sister school of St. Chris- St. Catherines.

Similarly the Hargrove children and grandchildren were privately educated – St. Chris and St. Catherines.

Why vote for politicians and send them to Richmond to manage the public education system when they have never ridden a school bus? or attended a public school?

If you care about education and public schools, stop voting for these self proclaimed “elitists.”

Reading the text of Peace’s comments I noted the following
” when we reject the tone of our local & state politic ,we will be able to achieve great things for our shared community”

Now I suspect that is a thinly veiled message to the likes of folks like myself who won’t remain quiet and ignore the facts of his legislative track record, or should I say the lack thereof. The big 4 issue facing Virginia include Medicaid Reform ( now eating about 1 of every 4 dollars the State spends) Illegal Immigration , costing Virginia 1 billion a year, Education Reform, unless or course you count throwing more money at them every year as reform, and the State Tax Code, a horrific mess long overdue for reform.

Peace likes to publically display his support for the issues mentioned above ( show me someone for domestic abuse) but has yet to support legislation addressing the major issue drowning our State. Note that the ‘endorsements” all come from folks and groups with their hands out for more state money, hardly indicative of Peace really fighting for reduced spending, or smaller state government.

His defense 3 years ago for McDonnell’s proposed 550 million in increased state contributions for Higher Education , and his proclamation that anyone disagreeing as ” people trying to drag the education of Virginia’ children backwards” is a testament to this quote using the word “divisive”. The facts , that were laid out in 2010 showing what the colossal waste of money that was being spent foolishly by higher ed made the support for the 550 million indefensible. VaRight just last week ran a story by the New York Times that was critical of the staffing and administrative costs that are clearly out of control. How does Peace wanting to feed this beast lend to the ‘conservative title” ?

Sorry Mr. Peace, but divisive isn’t going away. It may make your job easier in selling yourself as a conservative but anyone who looks at Virginia expenditures in 2006 and in 2015-16 certainly isn’t buying the story.

Meantime , let’s set aside issues like domestic violence and address some of the issues you seem reluctant to tackle.

What about the 2010-14 budget increases? Massive Republican led increases. Conservative?

No. I ain’t buying the story.

  5. Robert Shannon

Gene , this is one page we are both on. Neither party today represents much difference in how they govern. The only difference is at election time with the campaign slogans touting their affinity for this position , or that position, but no sooner is the election over than they go straight back to the business of government.

Perhaps you might contact Travis Mowkalski and ask him since he is a avowed democrat why he is carrying water for the 1 % here locally.

Travis has no problem socking it to homeowners again, and holding the fort for the oligarchs here in KW ? Really odd since most of them are rabid republicrats. The answer is easy, Travis is a very ambitious politician, and you can not anger the donors who will line up and fund his next office , even if they are all republicrats—he carried their water in this budget , yet again.

Dr. Laura Ingrham was dead on when she coined the phrase ” donor class” Get off the republican bashing bandwagon Gene–both parties establishments stink to high heaven.

Did this delegate vote to implant innocent citizens with biochips and destroy their lives? According to Senator Kaine, Virginia delegates voted to begin a crisis stabilization RICO and fund raise on the backs of innocent citizens. They put state police in charge of Medicaid fraud so they could get away with Medicaid fraud. The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act and the brain initiative are the worst scams ever perpetrated on the American people. Former U. S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin Warns: Biochips Hazardous to Your Health: Warning, biochips may cause behavioral changes and high suicide rates. State Attorney Generals are to revoke the licenses of doctors and dentists that implant chips in patients. Chip used illegally for GPS, tracking, organized crime, communication and torture. Virginia state police have been implanting citizens without their knowledge and consent for years and they are dying! Check out William and Mary’s site to see the torture enabled by the biochip and the Active Denial System. “Former Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) director and now Google Executive, Regina E. Dugan, has unveiled a super small, ingestible microchip that we can all be expected to swallow by 2017. “A means of authentication,” she calls it, also called an electronic tattoo, which takes NSA spying to whole new levels. She talks of the ‘mechanical mismatch problem between machines and humans,’ and specifically targets 10 – 20 year olds in her rant about the wonderful qualities of this new technology that can stretch in the human body and still be functional. Hailed as a ‘critical shift for research and medicine,’ these biochips would not only allow full access to insurance companies and government agencies to our pharmaceutical med-taking compliancy (or lack thereof), but also a host of other aspects of our lives which are truly none of their business, and certainly an extension of the removal of our freedoms and rights.” Google News

The ARRA authorizes payments to the states in an effort to encourage Medicaid Providers to adopt and use “certified EHR technology” aka biochips. ARRA will match Medicaid $5 for every $1 a state provides. Hospitals are paid $2 million to create “crisis stabilization wards” (Gitmo’s) where state police torture people – even unto death. They stopped my heart 90 times in 6 hours. Virginia Beach EMT’s were called to the scene.
Mary E. Schloendorff, v. The Society of New York Hospital 105 N. E. 92, 93 (N. Y. 1914) Justice Cardozo states, “every human being of adult years and sound mind has a right to determine what shall be done with his own body; and a surgeon who performs an operation without his patient’s consent, commits an assault, for which he is liable in damages. (Pratt v Davis, 224 Ill. 300; Mohr v Williams, 95 Minn. 261.)

This case precedent requires police to falsely arrest you or kidnap you and call you a mental health patient in order to force the implant on you. You can also be forced to have a biochip if you have an infectious disease – like Eboli or Aids. Coalition of Justice vs the City of Hampton, VA settled a case out of court for $500,000 and removal of the biochip. Torture is punishable by $1,000 per day up to $2 million; Medical battery is worth $2.05 million.

They told my family it was the brain initiative. This requires informed, knowledgeable consent. I got three oversight organizations that state it is not! Mark Warner told me it was research with the Active Denial System by the College of William and Mary, the USAF, and state and local law enforcement. It is called IBEX and it is excruciating. If you are an organ donor, they volunteer you.
