Federal Agents Prepare for Violent Conflict with Nevada Rancher: Citizens and Militias to the Rescue

In a show of armed domestic force, the likes of which we haven’t seen since President Clinton’s administration, federal agents have an American Citizen surrounded for failure to pay grazing fees on land that was historically free to his cattle. Now, I am a firm believer in the rule of law, however, I find it hard not to sympathize with victims of federal ownership of American territory. Apparently grazing is no longer allowed on this land because of an indigenous turtle of some type. This is precisely why the Federal Government shouldn’t be owning and regulating lands not used for specific governmental purposes.  The Obama Administrations over-the-top show of armed force has drawn national attention and sympathy.

“Our mission here is to protect the protestors and the American citizens from the violence that the federal government is dishing out,” Jim Landy, a member of the West Mountain Rangers, who made the journey from Montana to Nevada, told Fox News Channel. “People here are scared.”

As citizens and militiamen ride in to protect the Rancher’s family from the armed federal agents, I have to wonder whether or not a tide has turned in our country. Are people finally tired of being frightened of their government? Hopefully there can be a peaceful solution to this impasse between this rancher and Obama’s Department of Land Management. We’ll have to watch as this unfolds.
