Libertarian Robert Sarvis took his campaign for governor to Thomas Jefferson’s university, where Jefferson introduced him to a cheering crowd of thousands – well that is supposed to happen but really didn’t!

But Sarvis WAS at the University of Virginia and here’s the report.  I really like this on education – Sarvis is on point here:

Sarvis said he wasn’t sure government should subsidize higher education, but if it does, it’s better to subsidize individuals than institutions. He advocates a voucher system, similar to what he advocates for K-12 education.

Sarvis said the current model is outdated and incentivizes raising tuition. Too many students graduate with too much debt, he said.

The subsidies could be dependent on income level – students from poor families would get more – forcing colleges and universities to compete for low and middle-income students.

Sarvis also said the war on drugs gives incentives for over aggressive policing.  He also would abolish the ABC police and return that duty to local officers.  He cited the recent embarrassing incident in Charlottesville of a mistaken arrest of a student for possession of sparkling water by ABC officers and the victim was actually charged with assault (which is a felony for assault on a police officer on a FIRST offense.  I would simple assault or assault and battery on a police officer a misdemeanor not a felony.  All it takes to commit a felony a an angry touching of any kind on a officer at a traffic stop for example.) on the officer.

I think an abuse that the war on drugs aids and abets (and let me make clear, I am not sold on the Sarvis/Ron Paul view on drugs) is civil forfeiture.  I don’t like it because it creates a conflict of interest in law enforcement.  Civil forfeiture should be, if it exists at all, reserved for the most serious issues and only after a conviction of crime.  (I also would abolish structuring and tighten the money laundering laws as well.)

By the way, the thesis of many of the liberty leaders (who I admire very much) who have endorsed Ken Cuccinelli is:  Sarvis cannot win.  Terrible Terry will instead.

But I am convinced:  All it will take for many Dems and GOPers to abandon their candidates is one or two polls that show Sarvis say at 20%.  The candidates should pray every day that this does not happen.  Do not forget, the Sarvis money bomb goes until 10/25!  The amount is about $22k.  it ought to be $225k at least.

Check the flow of Republican hate money into Virginia at VPAP website. Check the Dominion Leadership PAC money in/out. Tell the Koch Brothers to stay the hell out of Virginia Politics! Tell Dominion Resources the same! Tell Dominion Resources owned, tax raising Republican, Speaker Howell, to get out of Virginia Politics!

A vote for a Republican is a vote to be governed by Dominion Resources and its checkbook. It is long overdue to stop Corporations from using profits that came from us, to control and take away from us.

Hasn’t Sarvis ran and lost as a Republican candidate in NOVA?

Canadian born, Senator Rafael Cruz, alias “Ted”, has a father who he admits fought for Castro in Cuba in the 50’s. Says he did not know Castro was a Communist? Who did he think he was, Gomer Pyle? Do we want someone with Communist blood involved in Virginia politics? Cuccinnelli does! The Republicans do!

Vote for freedom, vote Democrat! Vote to save the middle-class, vote Democrat! ! McAuliffe-Northam-Herring is all you need to know about freedom! Put the cuffs on Cuccinnelli!
