Is Tim Kaine Instigating Wildcat Strikes in Wisconsin?

By now you must have seen the shameful AstroTurf protests at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison. The Teacher’s Union and other organized state worker unions are upset with the efforts by newly elected Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to close the state’s budget shortfall which is a projected $2.9 billion biennial budget deficit for fiscal 2012 and 2013. And Walker is attempting to manage this without raising taxes in a recession or adding more people to the already overburdened unemployment rolls.

There are few places that can be cut in any state budget that would make everyone happy.

What Wisconsin is trying to do is admirable. Governor Walker was placed in office to address this very problem. And what does he get for listening to the people who put him in office?

Wildcat strikes and teacher walkouts by the state’s greedy union workers who are willing to watch as the taxpayers who pay their salaries suffer and struggle to make ends meet, keep a roof over their head send their children to school so they will be better prepared for the future.

Problem is, rather than being in school, doing their jobs, the teachers have called in sick to attend a rally at the State Capitol. Ironically, these teachers are carrying signs claiming the Governor does not care about the kids that they abandoned. And this protest is not over liberty, it’s not even about change. And it is not about union busting.

It is about the state’s plan to make the teachers pay a bit more for their own health care insurance. It should be noted that this increase will still leave the teachers paying about half of what private sector employees must pay.

And now it has been discovered that the DNC, lead by Virginia’s own budget busting former Governor Tim Kaine has been organizing union protests and wildcat strikes along with the Obama group Organizing For America.

The Washington Post wrote:

The White House political operation, Organizing for America, got involved Monday, after Democratic National Committee Chairman Timothy M. Kaine, a former Virginia governor, spoke to union leaders in Madison, a party official said.

The group made phone calls, distributed messages via Twitter and Facebook, and sent e-mails to its state and national lists to try to build crowds for rallies Wednesday and Thursday, a party official said.

Kaine has a lot of experience running a State into bankruptcy. When last the Commonwealth of Virginia saw Tim Kaine, he was dropping off his tax heavy drive by final budget that would have raised taxes on Virginians to unprecedented levels to close the $4.5 billion shortfall that was to be Kaine’s legacy. To their credit, Virginia’s Democrats did not run away like their cowardly counterparts in Wisconsin, but remained in the building to vote against the horrific budget by their party’s former governor. And they all voted against it.

Reminiscent of incoming Republican Governor Bob McDonnell’s 2010 budget in Virginia, Governor Walker in Wisconsin has attempted to do the same thing. To cut spending and balance the budget.

Of course, Governor Walker may not have had the same good fortune Governor McDonnell did. Former Governor Kaine’s failed leadership ‘lost’ $1.45 Billion in the Virginia Department of Transportation, which a McDonnell audit found, just sitting in the VDOT accounts. Ironically, former Governor Kaine claimed the VDOT was out of money and closed rest areas on Virginia’s Interstate system leaving us all in deep… well you know!

So when the good people of Wisconsin see that Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine is making calls and encouraging teachers to violate their contracts and lie to their bosses about being sick, you can understand how Virginian’s know this will not end well, fiscally speaking, if Kaine has his way. We already knew his allegiance to unions (and their big money) trumps his concern for the children.

Tim Kaine, the Teachers and the Democrats in hiding should be ashamed, and perhaps it’s time for Governor Walker to do this the hard way and issue the pink slips he was trying to avoid.
