A judge has ruled that Palmdale discriminated against Latino voters in local elections! Here’s the story!
Was it Palmdale South Carolina? Surely Palmdale Texas! Maybe Palmdale Louisiana! How about Palmdale Alabama!
NO it was Palmdale CALIFORNIA!
In a new critique of how minorities are treated in the Antelope Valley, a judge has ruled that Palmdale violated state voting laws by maintaining an election system that stymied Latinos and blacks from winning office.
Just goes to show the Voting Rights Act provision that the Supreme Court struck down was unfair to Southerners. This writer did not get the memo. Voting violations ought to be severely dealt with if proven. But the provision of the VRA that required certain (mostly Southern) jurisdictions to get permission from the Federal Government was unfair and discriminatory.
BREAKING: Looks like Palmdale is an ICLEI member, too! I guess ignoring the Constitution can’t be limited to practicing foreign policy with other cities in other nations!
