I rarely listen to Rush Limbaugh but I found myself in the car on business at Rush time and I was curious how he would handle the latest scandal.  (For the record, Rush needs to privately apologize to the law student and do so publicly too.  I suppose Rush had a deeper point to make but gratuitous unkindness like that was wrong and does not further his point.)  But Rush started out with a report from the Daily Mail (I would be careful with the Daily Mail – lots of unholy stuff!) that profoundly disturbed me.  Here’s two aspects of it that are head-shaking:

The study, which has alarmed women’s groups, also found a quarter of those [young women 18-25] surveyed felt bigger breasts would make them feel ‘happier’.

And almost 60 per cent of the respondents believed that men would be ‘more interested’ in them romantically if they had bigger breasts.

The survey of 1,142 women by the discount website by  aimed to discover more about the attitudes young women hold towards brains and beauty.

In contrast with bigger breasts would attract more men, just 43 per cent felt that men would be ‘more interested’ in them if they had a higher IQ.

I do not find it hard to believe that sixty percent of young women felt if they had larger breasts they would have better date choices.  I do think they might have MORE choices but I am not sure the choices would be better QUALITY!  Here’s more:

Shocking new research shows almost half of young women aged 18 to 25 would prefer to have large breasts than high intelligence – with a third even saying they would gladly swap.

Here’s Fox News’ version (You have to watch for dangerous curves on Fox too!) of the story.  Of course the secular experts sounded off:
Experts have blamed the growing obsession with celebrity culture among youngsters together with the burgeoning market for plastic surgery.

Mamta Saha, psychologist, said: ‘Celebrity culture is much more accessible than it ever was before. We are bombarded with images of beautiful women with enhanced features such as full lips and large chests.  ***  It’s easy to look at these women and make the connection between the way they look and success – but this can turn into an unhealthy fixation.  ***   “Beauty will always fade, so it’s important to work on having high self-esteem internally.’

The feminist are also dismayed but for the wrong reasons:

Kat Banyard from women’s group UK Feminista said: ‘Women face now unprecedented pressures to focus on their body.

‘Industries that focus on the way women look are flourishing – and that means that from a very early age, women are taught that the way they look matters more than what they do.

While the psychologist Mamta Saha is on the right track, the real answer to issues like this is found in the usual place the world never goes:  The Bible.  Yes the Word of God.

First let’s ask the question:  Do large breasts bring women more happiness?  (If you saw how red my face is as I blog this you’d think I had scarlet fever!)

Think of the extremely curvy women you know in the media.  (Keep it clean, guys!)  How are they doing?  Good solid long term relationships with solid men?  Self-esteem?  Do they seem happier?  How did the sex symbols of a former time period such as Marilyn Monroe fare?  Physical beauty has always been in the mind of the beholder.  I remember going to a town in Holland where in medieval times would weigh the women and see if you were a witch – if you were TOO THIN, you were suspect.

But the Bible does not exhort the women of God to seek the plastic surgeon but rather personal holiness:

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.  For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:  Even Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord…”  I Peter 3:3-6 (KJV)

That’ll make the feminists scream!  The feminist movement had some legitimate goals in that women must be treated with respect and paid equally, etc. but they forgot the created differences between men and women and lurched to the left.  Rather than a feminist viewpoint, let’s look at this:  What woman (curvy or otherwise) would not want a husband like this:

Likewise ye husbands, dwell with them [your wife] according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.  [I Peter 3:7 (KJV)]  Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. *** So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.  He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”  [Ephesians 5:25, 28 (KJV)]

If a husband loves his wife sacrificially as Christ loves the church (“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” [Romans 6:8 (KJV)]) he won’t hurt or ridicule her but rather he will uphold her and bless her.  And most of us know the Bible says not to commit sexual intercourse outside of marriage.  What would the world be like if all husbands (and wives, too) were faithful to their vows AND waited until marriage to start practicing sex?  We might not need too many feminists in our world!

And sex?  Sex is not condemned in the Bible!  In its proper place, it is a blessed thing.  Think of fire – in the fireplace or the campfire it’s useful BUT uncontrolled, it’s dangerous and deadly.  So it is with sex.  Try this out:

“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.  Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe: let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: and be thou ravished always with her love.”  [Proverbs 5:18-19]

Whew!  I didn’t even quote the Song of Solomon!  (“Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins…How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!” [Song of Solomon 7:3,6 [KJV])  WHEW!

There is a place for physical beauty BUT we need to remember there is a lot more to love, romance and relationships than sex or curvy features.  I recommend when my readers decide that they are not in a good relationship and wonder if physical enhancements might help, turn to God.  Turn back to God if needed.  Be a holy woman of God.  (If you are a guy, don’t be so hip on looks but work on your walk with God!  I messed up on that as a single myself.  It is a great regret of my life I wish I could change.  Be a guy with a mission – know what God has called you to do and do it with a warrior’s spirit.  I strongly recommend this book and ministry for the reading of every man.) That inner beauty or handsomeness or Godly purpose is a great draw to the right kind of mate.

If you need to know how to start or go back to a relationship with God that’s eternal and meaningful, go here!
