The Divided States of America: Second Amendment

Me not like people who can’t see past a little bit of light……..

This is my first contribution to Virginia Right since the 2018 Midterms. I am disappointed to say the least however, I know this is exactly what I expected.
As a second amendment activist, my people are getting geared up for another lobby cycle. As I have been receiving emails from all the anti gun groups just to keep pace with what they are sharing with their supporters. Recently, I received an email from Sharon Watts, Founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense America. It was the regular gun reform gun regulation email. Lots of powerful words but, no policy to get the people to where the organization is attempting to take folks.
“Elect a gun sense majority this November”.
“Pulling out all the stops to make sure America votes for gun sense candidates.” “Midterm elections offer us an opportunity to throw out politicians who are beholden to the gun lobby.”
Such language. Powerful but, empty. Let us take a look……..
Common Sense: Noun. Good sense and sound judgement in practical matters. Other synonyms to describe would include sensible, level headedness, wisdom and insight.
One of my favorite speeches was the President in the 1996 blockbuster movie Independence Day. “We cannot be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests.”
President Thomas Whitmore
Independence Day, 1996.
The common interest is both sides want to feel “safe”.
The left feels “safe” is more rules, regulations, laws and ordinances to keep guns out of the wrong people’s hands. The left feels gun free is the way to be.
The right feels “safe” is the ability to open carry, concealed carry or constitutional carry without the need to permit or license. When people see fire arms, they are more likely to behave in a polite manner.
To my friends on the left have you ever been to the gun range, have you ever handled a gun, cleaned a gun, participated in a safety course or been the victim of a crime?
How are the American people going to finance these changes you all are interested in bringing forth into law?
To my brothers and sisters on the right what concerns you about the so called “gun reform”?
I read the information, subscribe to the email notifications to get both perspectives.
IMO: I have read, but I do not agree with the folks on the left. Second Amendment supporters know them as “gun grabbers”. I believe that full confiscation is the end result of what the left is interested in doing. Or making guns and ammunition so expensive that regular everyday people will not be able to afford them.
