Some of my readers might be upset at me but remember, if I blog, I blog for God.  But it came to me this morning in prayer.  There is only one solution to the debt crisis.  It is return to God.  The goodness and willingness of God is manifest in Solomon’s prayer in II Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

A shout out to Bible Gateway for this site.  While I believe this is a special promise for God’s first covenant people, the Jews, surely God has not changed.  He is sovereign in the affairs of men and nations.

I urge every believer to make this Sunday a day of prayer.  Do it in your pew.  Do it at the altar.  Ask your pastor if you can lead prayer in the service.  Renounce known sin.  Come back to God.  Beg Him for deliverance of our nation from this awful burden.  If you don’t know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, here’s how!

There will be an event of interest to those who want to pray publicly for the nation here in Richmond on Saturday, May 6.  Featured speakers are Governor McDonnell (by letter in his absence) and I am told AG Cuccinelli.  Others scheduled are Rev. Joe Ellison, Jr. of Essex Village Ministries, Rev. Don Coleman of the Timothy Project, Rev. Sherrie Moore of the Richmond International House of Prayer, Rev. Glen Lutz, state coordinator of the National Day of Prayer, Mr. Eric Samuelson, prayer leader for the Timothy Project and Dr. Terry Fairbanks, the Senior Pastor of Meadowwood COG and the Host Pastor.

The prayer event is at Meadowwood Church of God, 325 Azalea Avenue, Richmond, VA; for more information call Rev. Ellison at 804.248.3242.  We need to pray.  I may be out of town but if not I will try to come for some of the event.
