There is a nice article about four GOP dark horses for the 2012 Presidential election.  Chris Cillizza (of the Fix) spoke of these four long shot possibilities:  Rick Santorum (former Senator from PA), Rep. Mike Pence from Indiana (who recently spoke in VA), Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts, and finally new Florida Senator, Marco Rubio.  I agree that Pence and Rubio might be a factor in the election but I disagree on Brown or Santorum.  (Of course any of the above is better than the present White House occupant!)

The real dark horse, with all due respect to Chris Cillizza, is Cong. Ron Paul.  Paul already has a grass roots following that will work hard for his election (blimps, meetup groups, moneybombs, etc.) and the ability to raise millions quickly.  2011 will be a year that the Tea Party activists will be free to give more to Paul than divided among many candidates.  Paul will not be taken seriously until he wins a primary or caucus (or as Doug Wead suggests, wins the 2011 Ames Iowa straw poll) but the political climate is more favorable for his kind of libertarianism.  Paul’s social conservatism will soothe enough old line conservatives to bring them home to his coalition.  I think he should run with former NM Governor Gary Johnson this time and serve only one term and then do all he can for Johnson.

We’ll keep the readers interested with politics.  Just remember:  The EU is NOT our friend!
