Virginia Right! Blogger Sandy to Speak at Mechanicsville Tea Party Tuesday Nov. 23, 2010

Actually, I first heard this on Doc Thompson’s Show on WRVA Radio:

At 7:00 p.m., The Mechanicsville T.E.A. Party will sponsor a multimedia presentation and discussion, “Understanding Church and State”, with Hanover attorney and liberty activist, Elwood Earl “Sandy” Sanders, Jr.

What is the origin of Thanksgiving?

Does the Constitution REALLY say “separation of church and state”?

What is the historical record?

The presentation will be shown in the meeting room of the Eastern Hanover Volunteer Fire Station #3 at 4428 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, Va., 23116 (Click here for a map). This educational event is free and open to the public.

  1. Gerrie Smith says:

A great opportunity to inform folk. More evidence of the failure of schools in our nation.

  2. Hanover Man says:

Attacking schools that are already laying off staff and in distress is lower than the snakes belly on your flag. Taking money from our schools is stealing from children. How shameful, how cowardly. No wonder your flags and signs are yellow, because you are cowards that would take money from our kids, our investment in this nations future. How cowardly, how selfish and short sited. At a time when American is falling further and further behind in the world academically and in almost every other way, you would advocate hacking away and the staff of a school system that has already laid off their staff to dangerously low levels. You all are disgusting shameless scum and a real detriment to our community. You will win no converts with positions like this.

  3. Once upon a time, I was interested in joining the Mechanicsville Tea Party Movement. I stand behind what the national tea party movement is pushing. Unfortunately, I can not say the same for the local movement that seems mostly interested in bashing the areas school system. I thought the tea party upheld the ideas and values of a free market, a system based on rewarding those who earn it.

If Hanover’s School System where in the shape as say Henricos, or Richmonds then my position would be different, but the fact is that Hanover has the best school system in the state and one of the best in the country. Applying to college with Lee Davis High School on your application is akin to saying you’ve attended a private high school. Hanover’s educational system has made a name for itself. The only reason I live in Hanover is so my child can benefit from the public schools. As far as I’m concerned the School Board has earned their salaries by maintaining a top notch education for our children and attracting residents and businesses to the area.
