I was wondering how or if I would meet Cong. Ron Paul – I was told shortly after lunch that he would be available.  So I was waiting for that time to come and I heard (as I sat on bloggers row of the Richmond Tea Party Convention) that Fox News was going to interview Cong. Paul – right near my table!  He was within ten feet of Tom’s laptop (I had moved out of respect for him and the news media and the security) where I was sitting.

Within a few minutes, I was able to meet and greet the political icon of liberty, Cong. Ron Paul.  It was great; I explained I knew about him years before and was a fan before he ran for President.  He said something to the effect of before he knew about himself!

After the thrill of meeting my hero, it was almost an anticlimax, but I met for the first time, former Governor and Senator George Allen and his lovely wife, Susan.  They were gracious and knew Tom White (Everybody knows Tom here it seems!) and I also met Del. Scott Lingamfelter from Prince William County and also the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Corey Stewart in PWC.

I also met the head of the 1789 Project, David LaRock, a fellow believer and seeking to restore an understanding of history and Nick Skidan, who is trying to start a newsletter in his condo association in Falls Church, (he and I discussed trading cards for members of Congress among other things) I encouraged him to keep going in getting out the news.

Cong. Paul spoke at this convention and he rocked the house!  There were just under 2000 people to hear him.  They cheered him with vigor.  However, the biggest applause was for AG Ken Cuccinelli.  The Tea Party loves Ken Cuccinelli!  (I do too!)

Right now Lou Dobbs is speaking and he is receiving a good response (my Tea Party head, Bob Shannon, introduced him!) from the conventioners.  I am awaiting the results of the straw poll.

While I was “manning” the parental rights table, I ran into Don Blake, Chairman/President of the Virginia Christian Alliance.  Blake assisted me greatly in the NDP in Mechanicsville last May.  I need his help again this year.  I hope to be more involved in what the VCA is doing!

The Straw poll is immiment!
