I am very upset (although I enjoyed the two Santorum wins in Alabama and Mississippi – if it holds up Ron Paul got FOUR PERCENT in both states.

Don’t misunderstand.  I love the South.  I bleed for the South.  (Yes, I love cheese grits.  NC barbeque!  Turnip greens with vinegar!  Lima beans!  You are excused as you go to a Southern place to eat lunch but come back!)  But when it comes to the hero of liberty, the South is (except for Virginia where Paul got nearly 41% and won three delegates in the Third Congressional District!) AWOL.  Why?

I have my ideas:  Foreign policy/Iran/misunderstanding of non-interventionism/a perversion of “support the troops” and I’d like to speak further on it.

I solicit your comments:  I won’t respond to profanity or meanness so forget it!  But I am profoundly disappointed in my people.  They seem to not be interested in ending the wars, establishing true limited government, ending loss of liberties such as the USA Patriot Act and NDAA.

So why?

  1. Jordan Gates says:

    A few possibilities:
    1.The election is rigged
    2. They look for a candidate who connects with them more on a moral and religious base rather than on ideologies and foreign policy. The mainstream media also plays a large role, as there are fewer people with access to the internet and therfore, less information about Paul.

  2. Well, the election is not rigged but I do think there are two big reasons: Ron Paul is associated with anti-Israel sentiment and the war on drugs. Removing the Federal Government out of the drug wars is not the same as saying drugs are great. But that is a subtle distinction.

Israel: Ron Paul is actually pro-Israeli sovereignty, having voted to support the 1981 attack on the Iraqi nuclear reactor. But it sounds "better" to say, we'll stand with Israel no matter what and give them aid.

Thanks, Jordan for coming by and commenting. Come back again.

Because people in the south (and I am from the south) want a crazy president who believes he has an invisible friend in the sky telling him to bomb the middle east into the end times.

  4. I think Lew Rockwell raises some interesting issues on today's blog on why Southerners do not like RP.

  5. Goldbug36 says:

I think many people are clueless about Ron Paul's positions on issues. They don't take the time to research, and the media have completely blacked him out. If only they would quit listening to what candidates say and look at their records and actions, they wouldn't be so impressed by a candidate who wears his brand of Christianity on both sleeves. Ron Paul is interested in taking the power from the federal government and returning it to the states, and to the people, as outlined in the Constitution. His vote for ending the War on Drugs does not mean he condones drugs, nor his vote re. gay marriage mean that he condones homosexuality; it just means that marriage it is not at all within the purview of the federal government, but between the parties and their Maker. If our economy is not corrected, and our rights returned to us as citizens, none of these social issues will matter.

Goldbug got it right ; come on dixiecups , remember states rights and freedom from the Fed . Vote for Ron Paul.xt right here!

  7. Anti federalist says:

If there was no fraud, then Thomas Jefferson and John Randolph would be ashamed of how our country (yes, i am a virginian too) has turned out.

To answer the question, it was either due to fraud or due to the fact that southern States disproportionately receive federal aid.
