Va Senator Janet Howell: Abortion Extremist – Abortions are $350! Let Women Pay for their Own!

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell added an amendment to a bill and State Senator Janet Howell is howling mad about it. The bill itself creates Health Insurance Exchanges. The amendment offered by Governor McDonnell simply prohibits these Health Insurance Exchanges from paying for abortions.

But coming on the heals of legislation that has already been signed by the Governor to subject these abortion clinics to the same regulations as hospitals where invasive surgeries are performed was just too much for Howell. Imagine, the Commonwealth of Virginia expects abortion clinics to be safe and clean, and now they expect these poor women to pay for their own abortions. Shameful!

Janet, here’s a tip for you. These “poor” women can simply saunter down to a local abortion palace and for a paltry $350 can kill all the babies they wish. In fact, here is a complete price list for one local abortion provider.

Listening to you and “Women’s right’s advocates” call Governor McDonnell a zealot (really!) and lay claims that this amendment will somehow “end abortion services in Virginia” is absolutely laughable.

People like Howell are so obsessed with killing children in the name of “women’s rights” that there will always be cheap and easy access to abortions. A lack of $350 is going to end the rights of women to have abortions? Are you serious?

And when you consider the “out of pocket” or “deductible” that would have to be paid under any insurance plan, it seems that you and Planned Parenthood have your knickers in a knot over Virginia’s not subsidizing abortions at an expense that is probably less than you and your pro-abortion gal-pal lobbyists spent “brainstorming” to come up with the Zealot label for the Governor.

Truth be told, Madam Senator, an abortion is cheaper than a root canal and I don’t hear you squealing about how the bill is an attempt to end dentistry in the state.

Get some perspective, Senator. And you should apologize for such un-Virginia like remarks. Stop taking your talking points from the likes of Chuck Schumer.

Virginia does not need your brand of zealotry.

The Governor’s office responded with sage advice. I suggest Howell take heed for the good of the Commonwealth.

“The governor is a conservative. Senator Howell is not,” said McDonnell communications director Tucker Martin. He called Howell’s comments “angry and unfortunate” and said they do not help lawmakers find common ground.

“Strident rhetoric such as this really doesn’t have a place in Richmond, and is more typical of what we unfortunately see too much of in Washington D.C.,” he said.

I have a great deal of respect for Gov. McDonnell. He has taken a principled stand on issues when many of his colleagues have equivocated.

Gov. McDonnell’s spokesman, Tucker Martin, is quoted as saying Sen. Howell’s strident comments “do not help lawmakers find common ground”. I hope Mr. Martin’s “common ground” comment refers to the general hysterical political tone employed by the Left.

I pray Mr. Martin was not implying that there could be “common ground” found in the discussion of abortion.
